We are heading down a few days early and would like to go somewhere nice to eat for one night. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. And it needs to be something that is also kid friendly.

Or maybe something on Disney Property. At this point I don't know what to do. I am at a loss.

So any suggestions would be gladly appreciated.

Thanks so much

We just came back from a stay at the World Quest Resort, and we ate two nights in a row at Landry's. It was fantastic, and very near the Crossroads entrance to Disney. It's down more towards Vistana, but on the left side as you head away from Disney towards Vistana.

We had a terrific couple of meals there. It's a little pricey, but if you love good seafood, food from Louisiana, and having lots of choices, it's great. They had all types of seafood, beef, pork, and salads, but seafood is definitely their specialty.

The atmosphere was really enjoyable, too. Nice music playing, and the whole restaurant looks out over a New Orleans style courtyard. Both our waiters were excellent.

It was fancy enough for my husband and I to enjoy a grown up dinner, but not so fancy that kids wouldn't be welcome if behaved. Some folks were a little dressed up, and others had on shorts and t's.

We also ate at Bahama Breeze while we were down there because I had heard such good things about it. It's a couple of buildings over from Landry's.
While the food at BB was good, it couldn't compare to the two meals we had at Landry's. Again, L's was a little pricier, but well worth it, imo.

If you go, and you like fish, try their house specialty snapper. I forget the exact name of it, but it's outstanding!

We ate at Giordanos about 3 weeks ago and it was very good. I would definitely eat there again.

We just got back today. Stayed at Vistana and ate most meals offsite. We really enjoyed Bahama Breeze. It is right near Landry's. The Paella and the key lime pie are both awesome. I agree with the above poster on Landry's, we enjoyed this as well. We drove to Sand Lake Drive and there is a great area with lots of restaurants. We went to the Melting Pot and did a fondue dinner. My DS is 8 and he loved it as did my in-laws, DH and I.

Nice?? Everyone's def. is different....

If you want something with good food and fun....go to Joe's Crab Shack, very kid friendly.....At the end of Hotel Plaza Blvd. turn left....about 1/2 mile down on the left.....It's one of those places with stuff all over the walls, lights flashing, music, beach atmosphere...(it is a Landry's Rest.) We always have an awesome time there....Prices are reasonable ($10-15pp).

Nicer: Charlie's steak house....pricey (avg. about $30 pp) but best steaks you will eat.... very nice atmosphere, kids are welcome but nothing for them to do but the normal placemats to color....I think they have 3 in Orlando, 1 near WDW, 1 by the airport (thats the one I have eaten at), 1 in Orlando city. Casual business attire recomended.

Or just go to Downtown Disney and pick a rest...Captain Jack's has been good for us (not for some other's), Fultons Crab house is good, I hear the new Raglan road is very good, fun....

Good Luck

One of our must do restaurants in Orlando is The RainForest Cafe. The best ribs we have found so far. Yum... There is one in DTD or at AK. Often it is easier to get into one at AK in the evening (you don't have to have admission to AK to eat there). Very kid friendly. If you have young kids that get scared easily, be warned, you have tropical thunderstorms inside on a regular basis - it gets loud! (But fun!!!).

Charlies for great steak. Not too kid friendly, but they do have kid meals - take things to keep the kids occupied.

Had fun at Sam's Fish Camp in the Gaylord Palms. They had a live band, face painter, balloon twister and more. Kids had a great time. (They also have a kids club so you could feed the kids earlier, put them in the kids club and have a nice adults only meal at one of the restaurants in the Gaylord Palms)

Bubba Gumps or Nascar Cafe at Universal are fun. Also Jimmy Buffets too.

Heard good reports about Tu-Tu Tango and Joe's Crab Shack, but have never been. Heard excellent reports about Mannies Chop House (near Haines I think) - a drive, but apparently well worth it. Also on my list to try is Texas de Brazil.

Enjoy,

-Kay

There are plenty of options available most of which have already been mentioned. I personally like Tu Tu Tango. Its a fun atmosphere, and good with kids cause you can order a bunch of appetizers and everyone can have some of everything. If you wanna venture on property, I would take the kids to chef mickeys. Good buffet at the Contemporary with characters. Its a little pricey, but if its your one "horrah" meal, I woud go for it!

We have enjoyed Bahama Breeze, Dixie cross roads, Giordano's for pie pizza, Flippers at Old Town for thin crust devivery, Chevys Tex Mex awesome salsa if you enjoy cilantro.

On our list to do Bubba Gump, Tijuana Flats, Cafe TuTu Tango, Babbalous Bodacious BBQ, Mimi's cafe, Ming Court, Maggiano's, P F Changs, The Melting Pot.

We always make a trip to Logans Roadhouse on 192 at 417. Great steaks, chicken, ribs and peanuts on the table.

We like to have dinner at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Hotel on the first night. When the kids were little it got the whole seeing Mickey thing out of the way. The hotel also has a great view for the fireworks from Magic Kingdom. The show is totally different from that location.

Bahama Breeze is a great restaurant and you will be comfortable there with the kids.

If you have never been to Universal, you might want to check out CityWalk. We went to Bubba Gumps in Daytona, and while not the best food, we loved it becuase we are big Forest Gump fans.

Almost forgot one that is requested by our kids.

Kobe (or other hibachi style place). Food freshly prepared and cooked at your table. There is one near the Crossroads Plaze (Lake Buena Vista) north of Disney. There is another on the 192 east of Disney (near to Arabian Nights and Charlies Steakhouse).

Charley's on OBT was the best steak I've had in years. It is not a kid 'friendly' place, in that they have cases of pricey wine stacked all over. They did have high chairs and kid menus. If you go, get there before 6 or 6:30pm, as they get crowded quick.

Race Rock on I Drive is a nice, not too pricey place for families. Pizza, dogs, burgers, and such, for $10-$15 a person.

Last, is the 'World's Largest Mcdonald's'. It is 2 stories, and kind of surprising in it's menu, more than the average McD's. Upstairs are games like you'd find at Chuck E. cheese's. On Sandlake Rd. just east of I-4.

I love kobe! lol now im hungry

We really loved Bahama Breeze. :cool1: I had one of the best rare Ahi Tuna dinners there back in Jan. 05. We met some of my DM's relatives there and we enjoyed it alot. This was our second meal there. So, :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 for me on BB.

Other than McD's and Cracker Barrel (my DD7 loves their Chicken 'n Dumplings-they're similar to the ones we make, but ours are in broth, not gravy) we don't eat to often off property.

A few years ago while looking for a Cracker Barrel while driving from Sanibel Island (via Sarasota) we stopped at a Bob Evans Restaurant, and were pleasantly surprised. Not a high end restaurant, but good food, reasonably priced. I checked the Bob Evans website and there are several located near WDW.

There is a really long thread about this topic. Some of it is getting old, but I think most of it still applies. Everyone's entitiled to their own opinions, but I don't see anything great about places like the Golden Corral. We have lots of national chains where I live, so I don't want to spend all that money geting to Orlando only to dine at some chain that I've got here at home, y'know. Much less a subpar chain.

If you want a great meal and aren't afraid to drive about 15minutes from WDW (via 192), this place is great! Last November we had an amazing meal at La Forchetta in Kissimmee on John Young Parkway just past the intersection of 192. If you get tired of all the theme park style glitz, this little family owned place will hit the spot. The service was great too.

Chevy's... it's the best place ever... especially if you like Mexican and CHEAP margaritas. It's right out of the entrance to Downtown Disney, near the Hilton and the other downtown disney hotels (not on-site disney, though) its in a shopping center with a mcd's, Publix, and I think a Red Lobster.

Does anyone know where I can find menus for the restaurants mentioned in this thread. Everything sounds great.:cool1:

You can see both Chevys and Bahama Breeze on their websites (chevys.com and bahamabreeze.com) If you go to Chevys they have the best home made tortillas-yummo! Landrys is located at Landrysseafoodhouse.com. Also check rainforestcafe.com (also owned by Lawry's) I couldn't find La Forchettas (yet) but if you type in La Forchetta and Kissimmee in your seach window you'll get a lot of information to come up. Also do the same for Race Rock. I found a coupon for that one doing a search.

Also check kobesteakhouse.com. Charleyssteakhouse.com has information about the restaurants, but no menu.

As for the rest, start with typing their name in as website address and if it doesn't work do a search. You'll get alot of information and maybe even some coupons. :goodvibes

HTH. Happy Dining!
