Off site rental car locations

I will be staying at Wakiki beach a few days before going to Aulani, my Waikiki beach contains a transfer so I was hoping to pick up a car near my Waikiki beach hotel and then return it to the airport at the end of my trip. Have the local rental car places opened up yet? When I first planned this trip to Hawaii it was during 2020, and we all know how that went. Back then the only place you could get a rental car was at the airport, have things opened up a bit for the rental cars?

Unfortunately, you will have to check the actual location where you want to pick up your car to be sure. I recently checked whether the Hertz location at the Imperial Waikiki was open and saw online that it’s listed as closed until further notice. I would imagine that the airport is still the best place to pick up a rental unless you plan to use a less traditional car rental option.

We almost always book rental cars thru costco travel. Even if you don't have a costco membership, you can use the site to see what's available, just choose different drop-off and return locations.

I just looked for next week and looks like there are some open in Waikiki.
