Ok we have NEVER stay off site before and this is a little intimidating for me. I love staying on site because we can take the busses everywhere and not have to worry about a thing. However i want to explore my other options this go around. We will be going to Disney in May/June of 09 and will be there for at least 7 days. I am looking for a alternative to staying onsite.

The players are me, DH, DS (almost 7 at the time of the trip), DS-5 at the time of the trip and our DD (who will be 10 months old). I want to look into stayong some where very nice but cheaper that it would cost to stay onsite at the hotel we normally stay at. IF we were to stay there it would cost about $1600 just for the hotel!

Suggestions please!

People are very happy with Windsor Hills, they will never stay in a hotel again.

Most Disney good neighbour hotels have shuttles to the Disney parks.

Have you priced?

We're going to be staying at Bonnet Creek in a few weeks. For 9 nights it cost us $1000 even ... no additional taxes or fees. :thumbsup2 For that we're getting a 2-bedroom condo with full kitchen, and all kinds of activities at the resort. They have shuttles too, but I always recommend a car if you're staying offsite.

There are a lot of condo-resorts that you can stay at for MUCH cheaper than the cheapest Disney resort. I would love to stay at Disney one day but I like having a separate sleeping area for my DDs. I can afford Disney, but can't justify it. :sad2:

Amw, do you mind sharing how you got that rate at Bonnet Creek? That is a great price. I'd love to know who you booked it through. TIA:)

We loved staying at Windsor Hills too. We also recently stayed at Galleria Palms hotel and really liked it there too, but I would take a condo over a hotel room.

We are avid Disney resort fans, but just returned from our first off-site stay at Windsor Hills and just loved it! We rented a 3 bedroom, 3 bath townhouse just steps away from the pool/clubhouse area. The resort property in general was just beautiful, very clean and well kept. The townhouse we stayed in was just as nice and we couldn't have been happier. We went during Easter week which was so crowded at Disney and it felt good to go and have some quiet from all the hubbub of the parks.

There is so much to offer in the area, stores and restaurants both. Read the boards here for tips on a shortcut from WH to the Disney parks, they were just great. Even my DH commented on how the time was so much shorter traveling back and forth compared to the traveling time going from parks to Disney resorts.

All-in-all it was a great experience for us and we would definitely do this again. And hopefully, very very soon! I have included the link below from where we rented from, along with another link that you might find helpful.
Good luck with your research and have a great trip!
