My first choice is, and always will be, AK/Jambo House. The ambiance, the peacefulness, the food, the animals make for a perfect break for me. I've rented DVC points privately (thru the DISboards) and never had an issue, but there is always the cancellation caveat.
I wouldn't stay at the Boardwalk resorts for the "convenience" of walking to Disney Studios. It's nice to be close to Epcot but IMO the walk to DHS is too long (and my feet are too sore). I'd take the boat if I was choosing this. BWV are my favorite in that resort area.
Staying near Disney Springs is also a good idea. We have stayed at the Hilton (NOT the Palace) and found it to be a lovely, decent hotel and the location can't be beat for evenings at DS. It was a 10 minute walk from our hotel room to Earl of Sandwich- not that we ate there, but so you have some idea of the "landmarks" for a 10 minute walk. I'm not sure what hotels you might be looking at, but as long as the walk isn't too long (bingmaps has a walk-mapping option that gives you distance/time) I think it's a good location. We have also stayed at SSR (begrudgingly, because that was available on DVC rental points) and actually enjoyed the convenience of being so close to Disney Springs. We weren't in Congress Park but we had a car, so we'd drive over to CP and then walk to the Springs. If I had too many adult bevs in the evening, we'd leave the car at CP and walk/bus back to our room.
We stayed at OKW and I felt like I was in any condo resort in Florida BUT we love Olivia's so that was nice, and the boat to Disney Springs is also convenient. We also enjoy POFQ. It really IS quiet, there is a lovely pool bar and lounge, and of course the lovely boats to Disney Springs.
