We are looking at Christmas week and looking for any off-site hotels that have 2+ bedrooms, kitchens and washer/dryer in the room? We will be bouncing around the area between Disney/water parks/Discovery Cove and Universal. Anyone have experience and any place they loved or ones to stay away from?

If you are willing to consider condos, Vista Cay is a great location for what you want to do. We've stayed there twice - once for a Universal trip and once for a SW/DC trip. Super close to both, and not far from Disney either.

Caribe Royale - two bedroom condos. They are very nice and can get for around $230 a night.
Sheraton Vistana condos are under $200 a night.

Years ago we stayed at Caribe Royale and thought it was gorgeous. We needed a few additional nights a couple years ago and stayed at Sheraton Vistana and though it was large, we didn't like it at all. Just my opinion. Good luck!

We stayed at Caribe Royale for 5 days - it was a last minute disney trip and it was a good deal so we figure why the heck not. We liked it a lot. They were under construction and refurbishing the resort at the time (Dec 2016) but it was amazing. Was surprised. Plus, $60 a night for a room that slept 5 was great. I would stay there again.

Thanks so much - I will check all of these out! I normally stay at WH in a 5+ bedroom home and have paid roughly $3000 for the week. This year I am getting quote of $5500=$6000 a week. That is insane seeing as I am paying $3700 to stay on-site the week prior in a Universal premier hotel with express passes for all 4 of us.

We always stay at Bonnet Creek, but we're doing a stay at AKL for the first time and need a few nights beforehand, so I booked Sheraton Vistana because I've always been curious about it. Which part did you stay in, the "villages" or "villas". I find the naming so confusing! I like the compactness of WBC, so I want the one of the two at Vistana that would feel less sprawling. Thanks!

I think it was villages, but I'm not positive. Location is in Kissimmee near the Walgreen's and Chick FilA. The two bedroom was just dark and boring to a decorator LOL! The good part is we each had our own bathroom and I used the second bedroom for a closet...

Edit: I had a 50% chance apparently it was villas - sorry!

Thanks! It looks like we are staying at the one NOT near Chik-fil-a!

We are DVC members but we always go with Wyndham Bonnet Creek (WBC) when we stay offsite. (And, over the years, we have tried many offsite options.) We've stayed at WBC a few times. They have 1, 2, 3, and 4 bedroom condos. They also have an extensive pool system that wraps around the lake. You can try out several of the pools while you are there.

The best part is that, because of its location, it almost feels like you are staying onsite. WBC is closer to Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios than many Disney hotels.

There are 2 primary reasons we've settled on WBC for our offsite stays:
  1. Location.
  2. Price. If you are patience and flexible, you can get WBC cheap on eBay.

OP - with your requirements there will be SO MANY choices. Check out what people post they like, compare looks, amenities and prices. I will just say the drive from WDW to Universal is not bad so don't be afraid of something if it's closer to one. I wouldn't go past Disney property to the west though. My favorite has been Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort so far in 1 and 2 bedrooms. Been multiple times to Vistana Resort in 2 bedrooms ⬇, Marriott Grande Vista 2 bedroom ... this summer going to Marriott World Center in 3 bedroom and in October back to Grande Vista in a studio. We really enjoyed Grande Vista and it's a great location on International.

Vistana Resort is close to Disney on 535 (and CFA) and its very large with multiple villages of low buildings and each section with pools. Lots of trees and shade. I've stayed there several times and the interiors of the units are very nice. But it does feel like an apartment complex. We used it just for bed and showers.

Vistana Villas is more between Disney and SeaWorld on International. It has more of a resort feel with higher buildings, lots of sunshine. It is right by grocery and lots of stores in the Outlet area. I have never stayed only because I've never gotten the low rates I got at the "resort" Vistana.

Three different posts mention Wyndham Bonnet Creek (WBC). However, OP is thinking of going Christmas week. That is an "Owners Get Priority Reservations" period for WBC, meaning someone renting during that period would have a reservation that is subject to cancellation. This is discussed at Post 6228 and following of the We loooooove Bonnet Creek thread: https://www.disboards.com/threads/the-we-loooooove-bonnet-creek-thread-part-4.3366139/page-312

Great info. I wonder how many other timeshare resorts this might affect as well. Guess reading the fine print is important when booking.

If WBC is unavailable, try Orange Lake either West or North Village or River Island!

I really like the Sheraton vistanas on idrive , across the freeway from DS. The itrolly will take you to universal. Thre is a great sticky on this resort.

Sheraton Vistana Resort across from Disney Springs is not on I-Drive. It is on 535.

Sheraton Vistana Villas is on I-Drive.

Either are an easy drive to UO. Also note to anyone staying near the outlet mall (bridge) or in the Palm Parkway area you can take Palm Parkway straight to UO parking lots without getting on I-4. We often stay that side if doing both, and looking more at hotels.

We've stayed at some of the Marriott timeshare properties mentioned that are part of the World Center complex and the Sheraton Vistana Resort. They are great. Usually price wise we do these if we can do a timeshare trade or rent for a reasonable prices on TUG2.net or Redweek.com from a Fri to Fri, Sat. to Sat., or Sun. to Sun.

Christmas week of 2019 (before COVID-19) when due to airfares and school schedules our second week wasn't in that timeframe, we found a good deal at the Cypress Pointe timeshares retail (They are close to the timeshare entrance of downtown Disney). We've stayed here numerous times too and really like this one. Just wanted to mention this as another option for you. In this one, due to our party size and for sleeping arrangements, we got one of the three bedrooms and one of the two bedrooms. The second bedroom is small with just a queen bed. The three bedroom has three bedrooms and three baths (two master suites with kings). There are hydabeds too, but we usually prefer not to use those and have the common space available day and night. Another property right by Cypress Point (sort of a sister resort) is the Cypress Point Grand Villas.

We've also stayed at the Sunshine resort that is closer to Universal and the Hilton Grand Vacation Club Seaworld that is super close (really even walking distance) to SeaWorld. I can highly recommend both of these timeshare resorts.

The timeshare resorts in Orlando are really fantastic with lots of room/ patios/balconies, nice spacious kitchen - living room - dining room areas (great value for the dollar). There are soooo many great timeshare resorts in Orlando.

The other option (though these don't usually have washer/dryer in the room and don't have a patio - balcony to sit out on) are suite hotels. These are typically more expensive because you can't do an owner rental and have to do retail thru a hotel chain. The timeshares are more spacious and upscale. These suite hotels, though, are super easy to book, and there are tons of these in Orlando too. One nice thing about these is that they usually offer a breakfast and have an onsite place bar/restaurant for dine out food options right where you are staying. One that offers a two bedroom / two bath option that I've stayed at more than one time and can recommend (recently did a cute remodel) is the Marriott Residence Inn SeaWorld. I like their breakfast buffet and food options.

In terms of location, Mystic Dunes backs up to Windsor Hills if you like the location. The have 2 and 3 bedroom units, multiple pools, putt-putt, etc. It similar to Bonnet Creek in terms of amenities, but a slight step down in my opinion. But its also a step down in price as well.

Have you tried booking Windsor Hills through their private owner facebook page or website?

Floridays Resort. Great location, very economical and have always had great experiences staying there. The only con is the shuttle transportation to the theme parks on one occasion. When we're not staying onsite for a staycation, this has been our go to resort for well over a decade.
