What is the prettiest hotel that is OFF site, but with in a couple of minutes walking time? I will be going for Sept. 19th - 23rd, is that a good time to go to DL?

We like the Candy Cane and the frounds are always beautifully kept.

September is quieter but make sure to check the Disney calandar for park hours during that time and ride closures.

If you're talking sheer beauty of the exterior, I think the Camelot Inn and Suites is quite attractive...but once you get past the entrance, it's all asphalt and buildings (though the buildings are still nice-looking) - just like the rest of the motels along Harbor. Not much in the way of "grounds" and "vegetation". I think I agree with the previous poster than Candy Cane probably is overall the nicest, though Camelot is closer than Candy Cane. I haven't been in the rooms at Camelot, but I recently stayed at the Best Western Park Place Inn (which *is* the closest, since it's right at the crosswalk) and thought it was quite nice - the room was very comfortable and looked as though it had been redone recently. The pool area was VERY small, though, and the building itself was just a long skinny building surrounded by asphalt, and was an ugly brownish/orange color.

Candy Cane certainly has some of the prettiest grounds but is half a mile from entrance. They do have their own free shuttle that runs every half hour though. Of the hotels that are "minutes away" then probably Tropicanna has the nicest grounds and layout, the pool in in the middle of the carpark and is quite an attractive area. Tropicanna will be cheaper than CCI, Hojo has attractive grounds and will also be cheaper than CCI but is about the same distance away as CCI. CCI has the smallest rooms, OK if only two of you, Hojos has the biggest rooms, Hojo and Tropicanna have nice good sized pools, CCIs pool a little small. Tropicanna and CCI both include breakfast HoJos does not. All three have their fans, do not believe you will have a bad stay at any of these.

I vote for the Tropicana, we stayed there in June and really enjoyed it. It is just a couple of minutes from Disneyland. We really enjoyed being so close, was perfect for that midday nap, or when going back tired at night! The pool and hot tub are nice too, and the rooms were clean!

I agree, Tropicanna is a great hotel especially since it is located right accross the street from DL. The price is always right and the did I mention it is RIGHT ACROSS the street from DL maingate:cool1:

what is CCI? Is in Candy Cane "inn"?

Yes. If you want a Hotel and not a Motel within walking distance. I highly recommend the Ramada Plaza Hotel. It's about 30 seconds more of walking than the CCI. We've stayed twice and loved it.

Anyone ever stayed at the Embassy Suites??? It is farther away I believe - 10 mins maybe?

I stayed here in 2000 and enjoyed it. When I was there the stay included a wonderful breakfast and a wine and cheese hour every evening. You might want to check the website for Embassy Suites to see if they still offer this. I'm sure they do. They also offered a shuttle to and from the park. IMO I prefer a hotel within walking distance to the park it saves you alot of time and is extremly convient especially for afternoon breaks. We enjoy the Tropicana Inn. It is located directly across the street from DL maingate!!!!!!

The Tropicana is very nice. And they do have some nice landscaping touches and a nice pool area the other motels right on Harbor don't have. And its a very close walk. However, only about a 3-5 minute further walk is the Howard Johsons. Very lovely grounds, twinkling lights in the trees and a very nice quiet pool area amongst the grounds and a main pool area that has a kiddie splash area. It is prettier than the Tropicana as far as grounds but a bit further walk.

The Tropicana has a free breakfast but the Hojo definitely wins for nicest grounds.

And all that said, the Tropicana is my favorite!

THANK YOU! They do still offer those things. Did you find the tram crowded or a hassle? We're going (for the first time!!!) in a month and just want to be prepared...

All Embassy Suites offer that, and the cook to order breakfasts are delicious. I have not stayed at that particular one, but my girlfriend and her son did last year. She said they really liked it, and didn't mind having to wait to ride the shuttle.

I'm with some of the other posters in recommending the Candy Cane. It's beautiful inside and out, has nice breakfasts, pretty rooms, is an easy walk and has the free shuttle option.

I haven't stayed there, but I've heard good things about the Hojo. It's a bit farther to walk, but the grounds and rooms are nice. They generally have some good deal through the Entertainment book.

Another hotel I've wanted to try is the Anaheim Sheraton. It looks so pretty, but it's not really walking distance. I believe they now have a shuttle, though, and I've heard it's an easy walk to the DL parking garage, so you can catch the tram from there.

And there's a brand new hotel that looks intriguing. (again a bit of a hike, but still within a mile):

Have fun looking at all of these!

Has anyone stayed at the Sheraton Anaheim? I will be there for our first visit to DLR Oct 6-8.

Please let me know any info you might have -

Thanks
