I am looking to stay in WDW mid December and just found out the value resorts are all booked. I have no clue as to where to stay off site. I see so many posts and reviews. I was wondering if someone could tell me a place to find cheaper hotels that are pretty close to Disney. Doesn't have to be fancy, but clean and nice and somewhat close. Not sure if there is a thread on here somewhere with that info or if anyone knows off hand of good places. All info is appreciated! Thanks!

Check out lastminutetravel.com. Search "Disney World Resort Area" and on property resorts show up. I know a lot of people hate them after the world for a dollar campaign, but they seem to have on property resorts available when disney doesn't. (I guess blocks of rooms they bought and haven't sold yet) I just searched Dec 13-19. (No reason, just went mid-december) and found POP for 68/night, other values for 78, CSR & CBR are 108/night, etc..These are all standard, of course. The rates change now and then. I've been watching CSR go up and down for this weekend. (We already had POP for 69 on AP rate though) It doesn't tell you what the resort is, but you can kinda figure it out when they list the restaurants in the description! I've used this site when WDW was showing nothing. HTH!

Mousesavers.com (look under preferred hotels after you click Walt Disney World) runs specials on hotels close to Disney, some of which are under a $100; you can normally obtain a 3* for well under a $ 100, a 3-1/2* usually under a $ 100, or a 4* sometimes under a $ 100 on Hotwire. You can use betterbidding.com to try to identify the names of the hotels under Hotwire, so you have a good idea of the hotel you are purchasing before you make the purchase; &, you can probably make the best deal pricewise on Priceline, but you will not be able to identify hotel until after the purchase. Betterbidding.com also has a list of hotels that have been won in the past. This would give you an idea of a hotel at a certain star level in a certain bidding zone, but there is no way to identify which hotel it would be. You should also factor in with offsite hotels that there may be resort and parking fee, especially with higher star hotels.

Try the Orlando Magic Card. Search for the Orlando Magic card site. They will have Orlando magic card rates. I know for a fact they have hotels for under 100 a night. Best part the Orlando Majic Card is free. I would also try travelzoo.com to what hotels they have too. then tripadsviorcom and check out hotels reviews.

I am waiting for Orlando Magic Card summer rates come out myself to see which hotel I can get for under 100.00 a night.

There is an IHG employee on this site who had posted a link to getting the friends and family discount for the IHG family of hotels. Perhaps someone else knows where that link can be found? Perhaps in the thread somewhere?

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Kissimmee a short distance from Downtown Disney for $39 a night including breakfast in August. The rates will be a little higher but they include breakfast so you can't beat it! :cool1:

Its 2 miles from the maingate, and its like $25 a night. We've stayed here a dozen times and are going again this weekend. Its a nice howard johnson, and has a pretty good pool too.

We have rented condos very very close to disney for less than a 100 a night even in mid december. Oh an they was not time shares either.

I was just going to suggest this - if you're going to be offsite anyway, why not grab a spacious condo for less than $100/night :goodvibes

Thanks for all of your help! I actually found Doubletree Suites for $89 per night but now I may look into this HoJos. That is super cheap. I'm also debating about getting a car as I heard the shuttle from Doubletree(which is not run by them) is not that reliable. Anyone know how much a cab would be from Downtown Disney to Epcot and the Magic Kingdom? There are 2 days I really want to get there early so I'd only need to use a cab on those days.

I'm finding 2 bedroom condos at Cane Island, Windsor Palms and Windsor Hills for under $500/week mid-December. Also a 2 bedroom at Lake Eve resort for about $523 but that doesn't include the $7.50/night resort fee.

I agree with the others. Forget hotels. Get a condo or house. We would never stay in a hotel in the Disney area. The space and amenities are so much greater with a rental property. In August, we retned a 3-bedroom pool home for $100/night. You can definitely get a condo and maybe a townhouse for under $100.

I booked the Omni Orlando Resort which is a very upscale golf resort with great pools and lazy river for the end of Dec. using AAA rate is $85.00 a night.:woohoo:

I would rent a car for sure. You could plug your dates into the Windsor Hills rents site and see what kinds of offer you get. It's very close to Disney.

SpringHill Suites Orlando Lake Buena Vista in Marriott Village

Not sure of your dates, but with the Mousesavers code of P50, it shows as $84 a night putting in mid December dates, and that will give you a $25 :
Mousesavers.com Resort Credit Offer, includes 25 USD incidental credit per stay, see Rate Rules

I've stayed in this complex before, and really like it; in fact, we're staying at the Courtyard in December. I managed to get a Look No Further deal of $54 a night, I was thrilled!

It's very close to Downtown Disney, and there are a lot of restaurants nearby.

Agree with the above poster. The Marriott Village properties often run specials. Also, there is a Courtyard by Marriott on the Palm Parkway that is often listed at $79-89.

I used to do Priceline, but have become more of a fan of Hotwire lately. Sites like Better Bidding give a good idea of what the hotels are.

We've stayed at Gaylord Palms, DTD Hilton, DTD Royal Sun Plaza, Cypress Harbor, and the Peabody - all for between 39-89$ per night.
