Off-site DVC: HHI vs. Vero

We just went to Vero last week, and really enjoyed it. Been wanting to go for a few years. We are pretty sure we are going to go at least every other year (possible yearly) for at least 3-4 days at the end of our WDW trips.

We have also been wanting to try HHI. Can someone who has been to both, compare them? How are they similar? How are they different? I know that HHI has Savannah, and there seems to be more to do there than the tiny community of Vero.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated - I'm sure my fellow DVC buddy edk35 would like this info too.

HH is not on the beach, but a mile away. There is a bus or bike path to get to the Beach House which also has a pool. There are any number of golf courses (doesn't matter for us) and restaurants, many of which give DVC or Early Bird discounts. Both HH and VB provide relaxing stays with superior CMs.

Our family likes VB very much but loves HHI. DVC's HHI resort in our opinion is best of both worlds, main resort set on intercoastal is a calm, beautiful setting but has plenty of activities for all ages & it's short walk over to shops and restaurants at Shelter Cove and love the Beach House (located within Palmetto Dunes resort/plantation) too which is quick drive or shuttle ride and it's also a reasonable bike ride or walk too (has planned activities there too). Abundance of restaurants, shopping, water sports, golfing and not a far drive at all to Savannah for a day trip and you can boat over to Daufuskie Island and do the Historic & Gullah culture tour there ( we've not done this tour yet but it's on our to do list ).

HHI is for people who like the beach but do not want a total beach bum vacation. We will probably go back to vero again at some point but HHI is more well-rounded vacation spot.
