We are commando park people and we've always done the dining plan, never even considering leaving WDW property. But, I'm simply not excited about the new versions of the dining plan and will have a car this trip, so I'm seriously interested to find out what are some good dining options off-site, but not too far from the parks.

We are fairly big eaters - so we want a place that gives you a plate full of food, and DH & I like to have a couple drinks with our meals. We are looking for something family-friendly, but NOT kid oriented. What I'd really like are suggestions that offer some outdoor seating and will be less than $100/meal.

Thanks!

Cannot think of anything with outdoor seating. In the WDW area it is mostly chain restaurants with everything from Chili's, Bahama Breeze, Outback, Carrabbas, and on and on. There are several places up and down 192, but I prefer the LBV (535) side out from DTD: Crossroads, Vineland, etc. have tons of restaurants in the area. FWIW.

Bahama Breeze offers outdoor seating, and is a good place to eat. Margaritaville over at Unviersal City Walk has a great porch to eat on, and is everything Buffett. Kobe Japanese Steakhouse on Palm Parkway is a great choice too, it does not offer outdoor seating, but does offer tons of food.

I would also recommend Cafe Tu Tu Tango on International Drive (http://www.cafetututango.com) or anywhere on "Restaurant Row" on Sand Lake Road (http://www.tripadvisor.com/GoListDetail-i10550-Restaurant_Row_in_Orlando.html)

If you wanted to venture up here to Winter Park, Houston's Steakhouse is a GREAT place to eat with a wonderful view of Lake Killearny. It has a good bar and a great outdoor waiting area, but you cant eat outside.

Hope that helps!

Matt - thank you so much for the suggestions! They all seem to be excellent choices for us. Cafe Tu Tu Tango sounds exactly like my kind of place - DH and I often get a bottle of wine and share several appetizers. :)

The Celebration Town Tavern. Serves New England style food. Has an outdoor area. Overlooks the lake in Celebration. We enjoy it.

Not outdoor, but Kobe is a great! We were very happy there. Very large platters. DH & DS said much better than Teppan Edo in Epcot.
