Off-site accommodations for family of 7

We (2 adults) are hoping to do a Disney trip with our 5 children in early January 2019. (The youngest will be 2 and so doesn’t “count” toward occupancy limits at Disney resorts - I assume that is true for off-site as well, so technically we only need max occupancy of 6.) I have looked around this board enough to see that everyone loves Wyndham Bonnet Creek, but we have a Marriott gift card and so would prefer something in that family of hotels (Marriott, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Springhill Suites, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Townplace Suites, etc) if possible.

So the question is, what Marriott brand hotels/suites/villas would you recommend for a large family?

Thanks so much!

I have stayed at Marriott Grande Vista in a 2 bedroom;
1 bedroom with a connect to a studio.
Not sure what other combinations there.

Where we were was very pretty and overlooked one of the pools.
Loved the pool area and bar etc that was right there.
Easy drive to Disney, we went back and forth.

I have not stayed but the Residence Inn Lake Buena Vista
has 2 Bedroom Suites

There is a fairly new Towne Place Suites Flamingo Crossing
that has 2 Bedroom Suites, gets good reviews and is just off Disney property with easy access.

There is also a Towne Place Suites off Palm Parkway not too far out Disney Springs
which has 2 Bedroom Suites

Just keep in mind the Grande Vista is a Mariott Vacation club property and as such, you will be asked if you'd like to attend a presentation to buy in. We politely declined and weren't bothered any further. No hard sell at Marriotts!

I'm a fan of Residence Inn Lake Buena Vista.

You can get a two bedroom suite with each having their own bathroom. Also, there's a full size sofa bed in the living room. We stayed with one bedroom having a king and the other having two, queen beds. Each bedroom and living room has a TV. There are other combination bed setups available, too.

You get a full kitchen. A wonderful breakfast is included with a variety of hot and cold items. The swimming pool is outdoor and adequate.

There is a $10 parking fee each day. You can get a USA newspaper everyday. There is a bus shuttle available to the parks, but we used our car. Offsite shuttles are more limited on times and they pick up and drop off at multiple resorts. Also, they drop off only at Epcot and then you need to use Disney buses to get to the other parks.

like the Marriott Grande VIsta - it does have 3-bedrooms as well - but they cost more. so does Marriott Cypress Harbour, if you want close to WDW then woud go with Marriott Imperial Palms, Marriott's Royal Palms, Marriott's Sabal Palms - one of these is a 3-bedroom (sorry don't remember which) and the others are 2-bedrooms. they are part of the Marriott World center.

for a newer once - there is Lakeshores Reserve - have never stayed at this and don't think it is close to WDW as the others - although could be mistaken.

Summer Bay Resort. we just stayed in a 1000 sq ft condo with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a full kitchen. It's offsite, but very affordable. We paid around $100/night (slightly less I believe). The 2br might be tight with 7 but maybe a cot or air mattress? We did that when our kids were younger.

We also have 5 kids, and stayed at Royal Palms, a Marriott condo complex. It is connected to the Orlando World Center Hotel (largest Marriott in the world I believe). This hotel has fabulous amenities and all accessible via shuttle by guests at the connected condo properties (Royal Palms, Imperial Palms and I forget the name of the third one :-)). There is a pool at the condo as well.
It was very close to the parks- we were on the 4th floor and could see fireworks from our balcony each night. Free parking, too. As for cost, I am not sure how affordable it is. We rented a timeshare week through a friend so it was reasonable. However, if booking directly through Marriott I think it might be much pricier.
Please direct message me if you have any other 5-kid sspecific questions. We are heading to Disney for the 4th time this summer and have learned a few things along the way! Our oldest is 9 and youngest 2.

We stayed at the Marriott Cypress Harbour in Dec of last year and really liked it. Lots of activities to keep us busy if we weren't at Disney. The only "down-side" is that it is a little bit of a drive to get to WDW. If you are going to Sea World though, that is pretty much right next door!

For our next off-site we will be looking at the Marriott Royal Palms and Imperial Palms, as they are closer to WDW.

Happy planning!!

No, you won't. I'm a Marriott owner, and through Interval International "Getaways", I've stayed twice at Grande Vista, twice at Harbour Lake, and at Sabal Palms. Never have I been asked to attend a presentation.

That being said, Imperial Palms are all 3 bedroom units. Sabal Palms has two real beds in the second bedroom (Royal Palms didn't used to, not sure if it's changed). The Palms are the closest ones to the Disney theme parks.

Harbour Lake had two real beds in the second bedroom, and was amazing for young kids.
