My father in law is organizing a family vacation to Walt Disney World for June. This will be our 3rd trip but this time my DH's grandmother will be joining us. She has hip problems and can't walk for an extended period of time, so we are looking into getting a wheel chair or scooter for her. We are thinking that if we go off property to get one it may be cheaper. We need to rent for a week. So please if you have any suggestions of where we could rent from be don't hesitate to give them.

If you look at the start of this forum, there is a disAbilities FAQ's section with recommended companies to rent a ECV or wheelchair.

I know that many have said that Apple has some of the best prices and I have yet to hear anything bad about the company or their equipment. I would check with them. I know there is a number in the FAQ's section for this company and other companies along with their web site address.

::yes::
The information is in post #2 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread. I would feel comfortable renting from any of the companies listed there.

My mom must use an ECV at WDW. We always use Walker's Mobility and have highly recommend them. Apple and Buena Vista also gets good reviews, but we've always been pleased with Walkers, so have never used them.

Used Apple twice and will use them again! Great service and prices!

Just my two cents......I have used Walker Rentals, twice a year for the past 3 years. I have had two scooters give me issues and one battery not charge and they were there within an hour, to wherever I was (MK, Epcot and the Hotel) to give me a new scooter. Once they even upgraded me to a larger scooter free of charge!
I would suggest take the small charger with you....attach a napsack bag to the scooter or put it in the back pocket of the seat .....if you are going to go all day. You can plug in anywhere while you are eating (I have even recharged at the Castle!):cutie:
