Off-Property Hotels

Which off-property hotel(s) do you prefer and why? Disneyland newbie looking to stay off-property in a nice hotel hopefully without breaking the bank (hence not staying on property).

There’s quite a few off site hotels within walking distance of the Gate. Walking distance is my first priority. We have stayed at the Anaheim Plaza Hotel. A friend just booked the Marriott Residence Inn a little further but still walkable.

My preference would be courtyard by Marriott if I could afford it.

Next alone trip my sis and I are making a compromise with Hyatt house. I just can’t pay $180/night for a motel. So we’ll have a little extra walk!

With my kids we have to have a bedroom door that shuts. We’re staying at HomeWood Suites for the 3rd time.

We love Howard Johnson with kids. Rooms are large and clean, walk is under 10 mins, pool is fantastic.

We have stayed at HoJo, Candy Cane, and Homewood Suites and would stay at any of them again. I prefer CC while dh prefers Homewood.

As an adult only couple we have stayed and enjoyed the following :

Walking distance is ALWAYS PRIORITY for us now.

Tropicana Inn and Suites - Across the street motel- parking fee - Newly renovated rooms. We loved our only stay here late last year in a renovated room. Very confortable stay and would happily return.
Howard Johnson Anaheim Hotel - 10-12 minute walk FREE parking ( a rarity) , no resort fees. We always book a Superior two queen room and request the top/high floor as it faces Disneyland/Monorail/ Space Mountain.
Candy Cane Inn - 10 minute walk - It's a motel due to outdoor cooridors however has free breakfast , free parking , no resort fees , free private shuttle only for guests to DL and cozy rooms.
Ramada Plaza Anaheim - 10-15 minute walk - It's been undergoing a major renovation for over a year but the rooms are VERY nice. I believe they are redoing the pool/spa area now so if thats a priority right now may be best to book elsewhere. Free parking and no resort fees.
Country Inn and Suites - 15 minute walk - Parking fees and resort fees can add up but it is a very new property and quite nice. Its a 5 minute walk from GardenWalk and offers free breakfast and a large pool area too. Rooms are spacious and beds and super comfy.
Staybridge Suites At the Park ( Ball Rd.) - 15-20 minute walk - Resort and parking fees - We stayed shortly after it opened and it definitely had its issues ( slow check in / unprepared staff) but the rooms were very nicely appointed and fresh. I stayed here on Memorial Day weekend when GoTG opened and was an easy walk. Free breakfast offered daily and suites have dishwasher , fridge , microwave.
Anaheim Marriott - 20 minute walk or take Toy Storyu Shuttle across street - Recently renovated rooms and full service hotel you would expect. Stayed here last in 2010 when I worked for Marriott so got a great deal.
Uber/shuttle distance :

Hyatt Regency OC - Parking fee is steep at around $20 but it's propbably the nicest hotel I've stayed at in the area. Ended up in a hospitality suite for 4 nights since they were overbooked after my one and only time I bid on priceline and hit the jackpot for $70/night. They offer a privately contracted shuttle service that runs reguarly for guests.( NOT ART). A little far to return midday for breaks but defintely a more resort feel.

You mentioned "Hotel" did you truly mean hotel with indoor corridors? Most places around DL are Motel style with the outdoor corridors if that makes a difference. Our favorite hotel is the Sheraton Park. Our favorite motel is the Tropicana but for our next trip I just booked Best Western Raffles because for the same price I could get a two room, two queen suite as a standard room at the Trop.

We’ve stayed at the grand legacy twice and really loved it each time. Close walking distance and the morning breakfast bag is just the right thing for us.

Like another person above said, most hotels on the strip are motels but so many of them are within walking distance. If a motel is not a problem for you then I would highly recommend the Tropicana Inn & Suites. We have stayed there about 11 times and each time have had a fantastic comfortable stay. We even got a couple of family friends to stay there and its now their go to place. They also have a decent pool.

For our May trip this year we are trying a new place "Grand Legacy" which is also right across the street from the park. From the reviews I have seen it looks like we have made a good choice with that location and the price per night is actually really reasonable. Cheaper than the Tropicana this trip. What won us over for staying at the Grand Legacy this trip wasnt the price it was the fact that they have a rooftop restaurnt & bar that overlooks the Disneyland fireworks. Best view of the fireworks on the strip from what I keep hearing plus their pool area looks quite nice which will be great for my kid.

We've stayed at the Anaheim Majestic Garden, the Wyndham and the Springhill Suites maingate. We liked them all but I think the Wyndham was our favorite. We booked through Get Away Today and our price included breakfast (it was a larger buffet, not just continental) and it had a shuttle it shared with 2 other hotels. We also really liked the Springhill Suites, but they use ART buses, and we found these to be less reliable than the hotel shuttles. The first two were between 1-2 miles away, but the average shuttle time once we got on was about 6 minutes. I felt like that was very good.

We have stayed at the fairfield inn across the street which was adequate but nothing special (not like typical FFI, no free breakfast) - I do believe it's been renovated since. We prefer the new Residence Inn by the convention center. A 10-12 min walk for us, big rooms (suites), full kitchen, full free breakfast.

This probably won't apply over Easter weekend, but if you stay at the Hilton again in the future, check to see if there will be a convention going on during your visit. That can make a big difference in how crowded the lobby will be in the mornings and how crowded the elevators can be. We like the Hilton and have always had good customer service there. Also, if you'll be using the Starbucks in the lobby, take advantage of mobile ordering (such a time saver!) and ask the baristas about the hours each day (since they can change). The little food court in the back is very convenient, too. If you ever stay while there is a big convention going on, look for food trucks in front of the convention center. That can be a nice option for grabbing something to take back to the room.

Anaheim Majestic Gardens - Closer but pictures seem to show out of out of date rooms in need of renovation even though supposedly they did a $6m renovation over the past few years

Residence Inn Conention Center - also closer and nice up-to-date rooms but more expensive

I think it's great to stay close to the park if you can walk there, but again depending on your budget you can consider stay a little further as well, Stanton, CA is roughly 4 miles away from Disney, you will have to drive and pay parking but you can save more money even doing that, we got a motel 6 room 281 for the are 4 nights while there. I will save me over 100 compared to staying next to the park, that extra money we will use towards food, gifts or whatever at the park. I'm not picky about the room since I'm basically there just to sleep and shower after the day. The majority of the times will be at the parks.

We stay at the Hotel Indigo because my wife likes how it's decorated. It takes us about 10 minutes to get to Disneyland. If you like to take your time walking then it will be about 15 minutes. There is a strip mall less than a minute away with a store and a couple of places to eat if you get hungry late night. Overall we like it a lot. Free parking also.

If you want to stay super close check out the Park Vue Inn. They have free parking and free hot breakfast. Its the absolute closest place you can stay to Disneyland and the prices are not bad.

With both of these places (and most hotels) go to their websites to book them for the cheapest rates.

The Starbucks in the Hilton doesn’t appear as a Mobile Ordering location in the app. I have tried before staying there and at Homewood Suites. I also just checked and the only mobile ordering locations in the area are the two at DTD. How do you perform mobile ordering there?
