Off day and waterparks day dining.

We are planning our next trip and having difficulty deciding where to eat on our waterparks days. We are staying at AKL which seems to be isolated from the other resorts. We are planning 2days at waterparks but don't know where to eat on those nights. One member of our party will probably refuse the restaurants at Akl. Any suggestions with ease of getting around in mind?

First, you have some of the best restaurants in property at AKL in Sanaa and Jijo but understand they may not be everyone's cup of tea. It may be fun to head to AK for some nighttime activities and eat at Yak n Yeti which has wider options than some of the AKL places. Disney springs is also a great idea with tons of options. I'd go for Raglan Road but there is a ton to choose from.

The Boma buffet at AKL is perhaps .the best buffet on property so you might want to give that a shot. Otherwise your best bet is to grab a cab to either Downtown Disney or a resort. You can get a cab to just about anywhere at Disney World for about $20 plus tip (and I understand Uber is even less). Downtown Disney has a ton of options but we also like going to other resorts. For resorts I'd consider Yachtsman at Yacht Club, Flying Fish at Boardwalk area, Narcoosee's at Grand Floridian (though all are signatures and pretty expensive), or 'Ohana at Polynesian.

And on edit, the "easiest" way to get around at Disney from resort to resort or resort to Downtown Disney is a cab/Uber. As I said, it will cost $20 or so (and you can get a van if you have a large group) and you don't have to wait for a bus or make multiple stops.

You could also go to Trails End. It is by the boat dock in Fort Wilderness. It has a basic buffet. The you could go to the campfire in the middle of Fort Wilderness.

To get there you could either take a bus from the water park to FW but then you have to take an internal bus to get there. Or you could take a bus to MK and then take a boat ride to FW and Trails End is right there.

Disney Springs is where we eat non park. Great array of eating options there. Low cost (Blaze and Earl of Sandwich) to High end cost (Boathose and STK). Just take the bus and enjoy.

ON an off day we frequently eat at Disney Springs. Many many options. our favorite is House of Blues. Excellent food (Shrimp & grits are awesome) and they have some outdoor seating with entertainment, if you like.

As other PP's have said, AKL has some of the best restaurants on property. If one in your party isn't keen on the menus, however, some easy places to get to would be Rainforest Cafe at AK (one of the entrances is outside of the park, so you can eat there without using a park ticket) or head to Disney Springs and eat at one of the many restaurants there. You can use Disney transportation to access both of these places directly.

As others have said, you could also cab or uber (uber is usually easier and cheaper) and go directly to another resort. The Boardwalk area is a lot of fun at night and there are a ton of restaurants within walking distance at BC/YC, BWI and Swan/Dolphin. With a cab/uber, you can go directly to any of the Disney resorts for dinner.

Will you be going right from the water parks? If so, I'd agree with Disney Springs, as you would probably be more comfortable in that casual atmosphere. One of the places that I'm thinking about trying with my family is Splitsville - not for the bowling but for the extensive menu that will satisfy everyone in my family!

We love Splitsville for that reason, we all find something we like, the prices are reasonable for Disney and always had great service. When DD was working DS as a Rescue Ranger (CMs out there helping folks find their way during construction) when families came up asking for something that had a variety and was good, she sent them there.

We may or may not have a car, we haven't decided yet. What is Splitsville? How far off property is that?

Splittsville is not off property, it is in Disney Springs. It is an upscale bowling/dining venue.
