Hi. Does anyone know (generally) percent of park guests who are also staying at a Disney owned resort? Also, does anyone know a web site where I can check daily attendence rates?

I ask because we're leaving in a week and I wonder how the crowds are. My brother decided to come at the last minute so I looked into booking him in the Swan or Dolphin (which I know are not owned by disney), but they're sold out for our dates. I know September is slow season, and Swan and Dolphin are not FTP resorts, so I'm wondering why they're sold out.

Any thoughts?

Sold Out does not mean Sold Out. It means the rooms set aside for any particular discount. As a FL Resident, I can be told sold out, but go to the WDW site and see rooms available, but the FL Resident roomsare sold out.

My guess on the percentage would be less the n10%

I don't know about next week, but LAST week we were in the parks and Thursday and Friday and they were no crowds. ToT and RnRC were walk ons. Most everything was.
It was great. January is dead and so Disney tends to run some things at half capacity. They didn't last week except for one time we were on ToT.
We had riden ToT a few times. The second (or third ?? ;) ) trip the CM's were at open elevator doors WAITING for guests to arrive to enter the empty elevators. The next time we went in, half of ToT was shut down, making a 20 minute wait.
The parks did get busy as expected (holiday weekend).

Right now, it seems that because of FTP the resorts are rather full, but outside of wdw alot of the hotels still have lots of rooms available.

You might see more people at resorts, pools, restarants, etc. than in the parks.

Disney does not post attendance figures, or even publish them. The closest they come is to tell you attendance was up/down XX% last year or last month.

Your best bet is to just listen to people coming back and see how busy they felt the parks were. Of course, even that can be misleading. A newbie in a deserted park might still feel it was busier than an experienced visitor who knows exactly where to go and what to avoid.

I think D/S are sold out because they were the only resort offering an AP discount and many people changed there rez over.
