Odds of waitlist coming through for late Nov

Hello all! I'm taking my first DVC vacation the week before Thanksgiving. I just bought my contract and I had to book a quick vacation before some points expire.

I was able to book a 2BR at SSR. I'm waitlisted at a couple of places.

Was curious about the odds of another resort becoming available at BLT,AKV,VWL,BCV,BWV after the 31 day mark. Is there normally a lot of turnover? I will keep my waitlist active as long as possible. Would love to hear other people's experiences.

We're going the same week. We're staying at the AKV and waitlisted for a savannah view. We were notified about 1 week ago that our WL came through. I don't know what the odds are though, in general. BTW, we are taking our first DVC vacation too!!! We settled in July and I called MS immediately and booked, so I understand having to make reservations as soon as you settle.

It's a pretty busy time. I am still on the WL for Thanksgiving week. Nothing yet but still holding out hope!

Don't worry SSR is a beautiful resort! You'll have fun there. The Turf Club is a great restaurant. The spa is fantastic and the golf course is very nice. Enjoy!!!

depends upon how many people can't make it this year - economy or other difficulties.

some people definitely wait until last minute to cancel this time of the year - so you may get luck.

really surprised you could get anything this late. so agree SSR is very nice and you have at least 31 years to enjoy them all.

Good luck OP. I don't have much success for waitlisting. I'm 31 days within my reservation (3 weeks away) and am waitlisted for a studio for ONE night (Nov. 7) at BCV. So far nothing. I was hoping only waiting for one night might be easier. I do have a backup plan.

I waitlisted for 1 night in a one bedroom at BCV for October 5 only about 10 or so days out and it came through in a couple of days. And that was during F&W at Epcot. I think that sometimes there is no rhyme or reason as to what comes through and what doesn't. Last year i got a couple of days at BCV at end of September and waitlisted for the rest day by day. Everytime one day came through I waitlisted for another day or two. About three days before the trip the final day came through, which I believe was September 30 - also F&W time. My back-up was BWV so if it didn't come through I would have had a split stay.

The one true thing I can offer from my experience, is that if you don't mind a split stay, waitlisting for a couple of days at a time, and then adding days when the first days come through give you the best chance.

We had booked part of our 7 night vacation at BWV and had to wait list the last few days but went ahead and booked Saratoaga for the remaining few nights - and just a week or two later out wait list came through so we are spending our entire vacation at BWV.

Don't lose hope - things could change the week before you leave!

Again, if you don't mind ending up with a split stay, it might be worth a chance to cut your waitlist down to two days to see if that comes through more quickly. It just depends on what you are willing to accept at the end. You may get the two days you want and then not the other two days. IF you would be alright with that, give it a whirl. If you just want to get there and stay put, which many people, myself included, prefer, then keep the four days and see if it comes through all together.

Things might happen close to the 30 day mark for some people, so you may see some progress around that time. The 30 day mark must be coming up shortly.

Just wanted to update that my waitlist came through TODAY. We leave in 10 days and the waitlist was for for a studio for my DD and family who decided at the last minute to stay one night after our Nov. 4-7 cruise because airfare was much cheaper if they fly on Monday. I waitlisted for the one night for her (Nov. 7) just a few weeks ago and never expected to get it, but I did. Now we don't have to squeeze them into our room for the one night. We are staying Nov. 7-12 (5 more days after the family leaves), so we did already have a place to stay.

I am going down for thanksgiving week and my first day is set on cash and the rest on points ,I just got off with MS and they said that wait list days are assigned points after the 30 day mark when avalible but never before the 30 day mark .

I don't understand what they are trying to tell you-

I had two waitlists come through in the last month - 11/28 and 12/1 at AKV Jambo SV. Last year I never did get a WL for the first week of Oct but that was for 6 nights instead of the 1 that each of these was for.

When it was two before our vacation and our waitlist expired yet we were determined to stay at VWL, I called everyday twice a day. Once in the morning once in the evening. Then low and behold the day before we were to arrive they had availability!
Be persistant and hope for the best.
