This question might be a tad specific, but I'm hoping to gather advice based on actual experience.
We're meeting family at WDW the first week in June, checking in on a Tuesday and leaving on a Saturday. This will be my first ever trip to WDW (we were APs at DL when we lived in CA). I was able to get the current fun in the sun promo rates for a garden wing garden view room at the Contemporary. Great! BUT, after seeing the "too good to be true" post yesterday, I checked in with a TA, who could offer a standard view room for $400 less (total) than what I was paying for my original package.
I'm NOT concerned about the view. What I do want is a patio. We're traveling with our 18-month old. She naps in the afternoon. She goes to bed at 8:00. The patio would be a great way for us to not have to sit in silence while she naps or sleeps.
I know neither option guarantees a first floor, but has anyone had luck asking for first floor with a standard view? Does the fact that it is the unnamed TA's block hinder the odds? It looks like there are far more rooms that are garden view than standard. But, $400 is $400. What would you do?
