My parents have made their final decision about travel arrangements for our October trip: they are definitely driving down in their motorhome. Yay! I get to stay at the Fort! Sure, it's only for three nights before we move to a 2BR villa at Old Key West, but a little Fort is better than none.

Anyway, I'm flying down and they're picking me up at the airport... in their 34 foot motorhome. The last time we did this, I arrived around 10:00 AM and they somehow managed to park in an outer lot and a shuttle driver volunteered to drop me off at that lot. This time, I am arriving at 12:30 AM so it's a bit of a different situation. I suspect that the airport won't be quite as busy at that hour, but I want everything to go off without a hitch. Has anyone ever used their rig to pick up a fellow camper at the airport? If so, what's the best place to meet them? I'm planning to use DME on the return trip to save my parents the airport trip, but because of the late arrival, we're boondocking the first night and checking into the Fort at a more reasonable hour.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OOPS forget what I said. Just saw you won't be at FW the first night!

According to the Orlando Airport Website - there is a cell phone lot which is free. It does not mention anything about oversized vehicles not being allowed. So they can park in the cell phone lot and wait until you arrive and call them, then they can drive around to the pick up area and you hop in.

Convenient FREE short-term parking area for passenger pick-up. Wait for passengers to call, then pick up at curbside baggage claim. No commercial or unattended vehicles.

From the North (SR 436/SR 528): The Cell Phone Parking Lot is located on the South Approach Road, about 1 mile south of the terminal building.
Exit right from the North Entrance road onto the South Exit Road. Turn left off the South Exit Road into the Cell Phone Lot where indicated.
From the South (SR 417): The Cell Phone Parking Lot is located on the South Approach Road, about 1 mile south of the terminal building.
Exit SR 417 at Boggy Creek Road. Go north on Boggy Creek Road and branch left onto the South Approach Road. Turn right off the South Entrance Road into the Cell Phone Lot where indicated.

IF they can't get the oversized vehicle into the Cell Phone lot, then they have to go to the parking lot designated for oversized vehicles. Then they can come to the baggage claim area and wait inside. There is a fee for parking in this lot.

Parking for oversized vehicles is available adjacent to the "B" side Terminal Garage Parking. Patrons wishing to utilize oversized vehicle parking at the terminal should enter the "B" side Terminal Garage Parking entry plaza and follow signs to the left into the surface parking lot.

Note: Oversized vehicles include vehicles higher than 7' 0" and/or longer than 20 feet in length.

Thanks for your help. I've sent an e-mail to someone at the airport with my information requesting advice. Hopefully, I'll hear back soon. If it's too difficult for them to pick me up, we'll find another way.
