Okay, so I've been reading "older" posts from last month and came upon a thread regarding stinky smells in Disneyland, which made me start thinking... has anybody ever noticed the different smells in the different rides and stores? Call me strange, but I actually enjoy them!::yes:: I actually have déjà vu of being there as a child. I'm particularly referring to Pirates of the Caribbean!pirate: Does anybody know what I'm talking about? I also enjoy another smell in one of the stores, but I'm having a "brain fart" and the more I try and think of it, the more I can't remember - errrr!:headache: I know this is completely random, but I was just curious.

I know exactly what you're talking about with the smell of Pirates of the Caribbean! I've noticed it since my very first trip in the 3rd grade, and now I always comment on it every time I'm there. Its very nostalgic to me, and even my entire family notices it, too...so its not just us! :goodvibes

I actually notice certain smells about most attractions at Disneyland. Another one that comes to mind is Splash Mountain...maybe its just a certain scent of the water that I notice so much? But yes, to me, the smells of the parks are just as important to my memories as any other sensory experience. :cloud9:

The fumes. And PoC - definite smell that I can conjure up at my desk here at work outside Chicago!! Can't wait for it, either - our last September trip, PoC was closed that week for refurb, so we haven't been on it since last May. We go May 7th!!.

My least favorite is Star Tours. I can't seem to get past that exhausty smell and it really gives me a headache.

I love, love the smell of Pirates and walking thru the Gibson Girl ice cream parlor.

The musty water smell in Pirates of the Caribbean is my most favorite smell ever!

I also really like the smell of the Indy queue. Apparently it's the hydraulic fluid. I love it!

Not sure I've ever noticed a distinct smell in any of the stores...well, except for the candy store and ice cream parlor, but that's pretty much a given! :wizard:

Count me as another fan of the POTC smell. When I think of what Disneyland smells like, I think of the candy smell on Main Street and the POTC water.

I :lovestruc the smell in POTC too. It's like going home. IASW has a similar smell to me, that chloriny, musty smell of magic. pixiedust:

I also love the smell on Main St. :cloud9:

It's funny when the kids and I listen to the music from Soarin' our brains trick us into smelling the ride smells. :upsidedow

Some of my favorite DLR smells:
-Soarin
-Pirates
-Main Street Candy Palace
-Downtown Disney (it always smells great!)

One of the WORST DLR smells: The stink bug in It's Tough to be a Bug! :crazy2:

Great now I'm sitting here smiling and thinking of the scents of Disney...mmm lol

Oh yes... I too know what you mean. I love POTC, iasw, the piped in cookie smell on Main St, and although not exclusive to DL I love the smell of the popcorn.

In addition to the ever popular smell inside PoTC (which, by the way, has its own fan page on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!...tes-of-the-Caribbean-Ride/395631679273?ref=ts ) some of my favorites are:

The Disneyland Railroad
The smell as you enter the first tunnel on the Matterhorn
The ginger smell in Monster's Inc.
The coffee roasting smell inside DCA
The breakfast smell inside Riverbelle Terrace in the mornings

Least favorite smell:

The left que on Pirates when you get a whiff of sewage. Blech.

This may be a no-brainer, but I love the coffee/pastry small of Blue Ribbon Bakery.

POTC smells awful to me - especially the queue to it. Thinking of the queue makes me want to dry heave. We were just there, and it was the most disgusting smell of sewer and just plain nastiness. The inside of POTC is not quite so bad, but not one of my favorites.

The musty water smell in Pirates of the Caribbean is my most favorite smell ever!

Me too!

My kids and I also love Heimlich's Chew Chew train in CA and the scent of watermelon and animal crackers. We can't get enough of the ride!:dance3:

Awhile back my DS spilled some water in the car and for a couple of days it smelled just like POTC :lovestruc. I pulled out my CD and listened to the soundtrack repeatedly.

You know that yummy smell of caramel popcorn that permeates everywhere in DTD? Last week they let it get burned ... NOT good. Blech.

I intensely dislike the smell of the steam engine, unfortunately. :(

I love the smell of POTC. However, this year the smell doesn't seem to be as strong as I remember it :( It seems less musty or whatever it is.

I also love the smell of the train, especially when you go in the tunnels.

And I love the smell of Disney just as it starts sprinkling or raining lightly. Just a combo of the rain and all the other smells, ahhh.... It smells so clean

I also love the smell of main street and DTD, even walking towards the security tables you can start to smell Disney :lovestruc

On our trip in 2008 I bought a set of candles, I didn't light them while there, but the smell of them scented our hotel room. The candles are pretty much all used up now, so they're stored in a cupboard in our kitchen. Whenever I open the doors I'm flooded with memories of Disney! :cloud9:
