We are all coming to Universal February 13th and going back home February 18th. Twelve us are going in my family....including two of my sons and their families, along with my sister and her husband. The reservations have been made for four rooms at the Royal Pacific...They include two adult tickets to the parks for each room...so..we will have a few non expiring park tickets we purchased earlier..That's ok...we might use them at a later date...I also purchased twelve Sea World tickets...which expire in April. I plan to purchase twelve tickets to see the Blue Man Group.

Now, the problem. I have a 14 year old granddaughter...who, without going into a long story...has been going through a lot. My son and her mother have been divorced since she was a baby...and frankly..they live in two different worlds...During the last year, (since the mother got a new boyfriend), my granddaughter started changing...and began to withdraw from all of us..until the point...She didn't want anything to do with us...When we have her...she's like her old self...but, after she is with her mother...It starts all over again...Grades mean nothing to her mother and her mother's family...and my granddaughter has complete freedom...to do anything she wants to do..It's quite sad...I feel awful for her...Like I said...she has lived in two opposite worlds all her life...but, now..it seems she wants to choose a world where there is a lot of swearing...drugs...lying...Anyway...I don't know if she will be going with us in February. Everything seems to change from day to day. I could possibly know she "isn't" going a month before we leave...or be standing in the airport..only to learn she isn't coming.

What do I do with the Blue Man Group and Sea World tickets? I would give them away...and not expect any money at all...but, how would I do that? What one person would want to sit at the show with all of us? I know I could give the Sea World ticket to somebody when we are down there...especially if they haven't purchased their tickets....Would I ask the hotel or what?

I am very sad about all of this....:sad2: But, if she doesn't go...I'd like to make somebody else happy...

What a sweet and kind gesture on your part! I do hope, though, that it doesn't come to your giving the ticket away and your granddaughter does decide to join you. The memories are priceless.

If you are faced with an extra ticket, I do know there is a board for adults and solo travelers. You could offer the tickets there. There is also a Sea World board...you could make the free ticket offer post there also.

If not, I would wait until you actually get to Universal Studios and see if there some people who are waiting to purchase tickets to Blue Man Group at the park. You could always offer your free ticket, it may make a difference to a family who otherwise would not go.

Again, good luck with everything...including your planning. And just hug your granddaughter. It means so much.

Thank you for your kind words, suggestions, and support...I'll keep waiting until I know what will happen...:confused3 If there is enough time..I'll do as you suggested and see who on the boards might be able to use the tickets...

Another suggestion if it doesn't work out that your granddaughter can attend (and I hope she does!) would be to donate it to Give Kids the World. It is a facility where children that are facing life threatening illnesses stay for several days (www.gktw.org) while enjoying the parks. All of the tickets are donated to the families to attend the parks but they often have an extra family member or friend with them that isn't covered and may be really happy to have an extra ticket since so many are going through some pretty tight finacial situations as a result of medical bills etc. Just a thought. Again, I hope she can be with you. Good Luck!

I'd love to be able to do that...but, it might be at the last nminute...The Sea World ticket wouldn't expire until April...The Blue Man Group ticket would be dated, wouldn't it? Unless...somehow...they would allow me to give it to the organization to use for another time. I think I will ask to see if that is possible.
