I know this is very odd, but does anyone else have dry eyelids? It's not my eyes that are dry, it's the upper lids.

They just feel very dry. I have been putting some vaseline on them in the evenings, but it hasn't seemed to help yet.

Anyone else & is there something that can help.

I had this; it was my foundation. Changed to another brand and it cleared up.

Vaseline won't moisturise them; you need a moisturiser.

Mine do this in the winter. They get so dry they crack and sometimes bleed. I changed everything, soap, makeup, etc. and it would still not clear up with moisturizing. My eye doctor told me to get some Hydrocortisone ointment (Not creme, he said the creme would dry it out worse for some reason.) and put it on there every morning and night. Just a thin layer, and rub it in very well. Cleared it right up after about a week. :thumbsup2

Yes, get an oil free facial moisturiser. Wash your eyelids first with a gentle facial soap, so they are nice and hydrated. The lightly put on the moisturiser. I use the Garnier moisturisers.

Thanks!

MinnieMe87 - what brand of Hydrocortisone ointment did you use.

I use Olay regenerating serum and put it on my lids too.
Helped a lot.
I did buy the Olay eye serum, but found this way worked just as well and used something I am already using,

Yes. I get this same problem- bleeding & cracking too. Doc said the same thing, Hydrocortisone Ointment. However, my doc said only use it a day or two...then off for a week. Something about the eyelids being so thin its not very safe :confused3 I don't know, I'm not a Dr & I dont play one on the Dis.

My son has eczema, extremely dry skin, on his eyelids. We have some prescription ointments. But, most of the time Aquaphor does the trick. Good luck!

I did....it was caused by hypo=thyroidism (sp). It was was brought on the blood test.

Olive Oil. No I am not kidding. It is one of the best things for your skin. Put it on a few times a day. It is not greasy. It rubs right in and it makes your skin very soft. Any creams and lotions are going to be made up of mostly water. That will not help you. Olive Oil is truly the best thing.

I had this happen once before and my doctor said to use Eucerin creme for a few days and if it didn't clear up he would perscribe me something. Within a day or two it was completely cleared up and I have never had any problems with dry eyelids since. Hopefully you find something that works for you :)

I had puffy, irritated, swollen eyelids for a while. Dr. diagnosed it as contact dermatitis and prescribed a hydrocortisone ointment which was a bit stronger than the OTC variety. We have since switched to Cortate which is not as strong, but cheaper.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Use it sparingly. You don't want to be using this long term where it could seep through the lids and do something damaging to the eyes.

I had this happen and it turns out I was allergic to nail polish. You touch your eyes many times a day and it was making my eyes have dry flaky patches. When I stopped wearing nail polish, it cleared up!

I didn't ask how long to use it, nor did he tell me how long to use it. That's about how long it took for mine to clear up. If I had used it for a day or two, it wouldn't have done any good. Thank you for pointing that out, I'll be a little more careful next time!! :goodvibes
