Odd question about bouquets

I have been lurking on the boards for awhile and have read that bridal bouquets are very heavy. I have some problems with my back and neck and I'm afraid I'm on the weak side as far as upper body strength goes. :( I was hoping someone could give me an approximation of bouquet size, such as how many flowers were in it and what it ended up weighing. If anyone has pics so I can get a feel for the size weight ratio would really help me out.

It may be because I'd built it up so much in my mind (after reading about it here), but I didn't think my bouquet was that heavy. I once got to hoist an Oscar, which weighs 8.5 pounds, and thought that was pretty heavy. My bouquet didn't feel nearly that heavy - maybe 4 lbs? It was all dahlias.

Thanks Lurkyloo. Your bouquet was gorgeous. That helps to put my mind at ease. I can handle 5-6 lbs maybe even 8. Much over that and the the length of time I'll be paying for carrying it outweighs the beauty.

I read your planning journal and will be trying to follow in your footsteps so I come as close as possible to 10,000 (or whatever the min is when we finally get married :rotfl: ) I know you said that your flowers were out of season when you chose them. Do you remember if they said what their season was? We are doing a early December wedding. I am telling myself now that I will get flowers that are in season to keep to that budget. I hope my resolve stays strong when the day finally arrives.

Dahlias are available June-October.

However, I wouldn't worry about it too much. My bouquet cost the same as just about every other bouquet I've seen on these boards, despite the fact that the flowers were out of season (although maybe they woulda been WAY cheap if they'd been in season. Hmmmmm..... :lmao: )

here is mine. i think this is the best pic that shoes the size of my flowers...there were 5 dozen roses in there and it weighed a TON. seriously. i couldn't even lift it at times...if you're worried about weight, i'd make sure you either didn't use roses (they're super heavy) or have 1/2 the amount i did...
