Odd or normal doctor office procedure?

She told me they couldn't do it, gave me a number and I left. Then I was like "huh, that's strange"

Maybe she assumed that by her response and giving you a phone number you would get that they do not do the scheduling.

That does seem odd. I probably would have pulled out my cell phone while standing right in front of their desk and called them to make the appt, but that's just me.

I don't see why they wouldn't let you make the appointment right then and there, but sometimes there is a whole separate office that deals with that.

I'm wondering if maybe it has something to do with them needing to be sure they have specific orders from your doctor about what they are looking for, which views the doctor wants and how he wants to be notified of the results.

My insurance doesn't require a referral but I don't know of any place that will do an x-ray, MRI, or ultrasound without a referral from the doctor.

OMG! I am so sorry. I did not mean to insinuate that you were wrong in asking this question on the Dis. I meant that I just find it annoying that people don't think to provide a 2 second brief explanation.

Well that is my point. lol Is it odd that a dr.office won't make appointments in person.? I got my answer and now I know why.

Yeah, I guess she could have elaborated a little. Guess she just assumed.
