My friend just had something like that on her cell and turns out she had gotten the bottom wet where you plug in the charger and she as well could not get the phone to work.
She had a Verizon phone (which I have and LOVE). She ended up having to get a whole new phone. She did have cell phone insurance from Verizon. It said "error" as well...
This may not be at all what you are having a problem with but I know she just finished dealing with it and she was so annoyed. She thinks she put her phone in the cup dish in her car and she had had a cold soda in the cup holder that was "sweating" and so her phone got wet and failed to work properly.
Mine says SIM card error, when I drop it and the back flies off and the battery comes partially out...........yes, I'm quite the fumble fingers. Once I get the battery all the way back in, it's fine.
if SIM card error all you have to do is open the batter to where you can get to your sim card and push it back in place, if you drop your phone the sim card can sometimes get knocked loose.
