I've read Ziploc bags and suction clothes line for the verandah. Any other suggestions? Thanks!:earsboy:

The one thing I always pack is a travel alarm clock with an indigo light. Yes there is a clock in the room, but not one that is easy to read in the dark and I sometimes get up during the night. The indigo light can be used to help light the way to the bathroom as well.

A big tip that many on this board use is an over the door shoe hanger. One with clear pockets. Put it on the outside of one of the bathroom doors and it is a great place to put sunscreen, sunglasses, and other small items that might otherwise clutter up the room.

I've also heard that some people bring an solid air freshener for the bathroom. We've never tried it but it sounds like a good tip.

Welcome to the DIS!:wave2:

At least one roll of B&W film.....we took some really amazing pix with it,including areas of ship, Castaway Cay, et al. and had some enlarged to 5x7...bought black aluminum frames for each....

Pack ME in your bags ::yes::

We usually pack a night light to keep on in the bathroom.
Don't forget the aloe gel or something to soothe sunburn. Learned that lesson from experience.

I second the small travel alarm clock.. one that you can see in the dark...

an ID lanyard that you can put your key to the world card in... since you need it for just about everything..

if your family is planning to do different things throughout the day, post-its or a small dry erase board to leave messages on where you or they can be found, or messages for your stateroom host--i.e, more ice, extra towels...

a highlighter to mark things in the navigator you are interested in doing...

a sharpie to get things other then paper autographed. I got a pillowcase autographed for my niece on one of my last cruises. I also had the captain, crew members and several characters autograph my scrapbook...

all I can think of for now.

An "odd" thing I packed last time were address labels.

I made sure they had both of our names and our address and then I took a sharpie (before we left home) and put our stateroom number at the top of them. I also packed extra (in case we got upgraded and our stateroom number changed) ;) --wishful thinking!!

On the last night of the cruise I peeled off an address label and stuck it on the luggage tag you are required to put on your luggage so it gets sorted correctly. That saved me from having to take precious time to write out our names and address on each of the tags. All I had to add was the number of bags we ended up having.

Sure, it probably only saved 5 minutes, but psychologically it saved TONS of time....since I didn't have to sit there and moan about filling out my luggage tags.

HTH :)

Thanks everyone! Sorry jilljill...unfortunately we can't pack you... our luggage is full from the great suggestions!

Can't blame a girl for trying.

I always bring a bottle of Antibacterial Liquid Hand Soap. The soap in the bathrooms is a small, messy thing. It may seem silly, but if I can prevent my family from getting sick with a Norwalk virus or similar illness, it's worth it!

Dryer Sheets (they don't sell them in the laundry room, only Downy--unless things have changed in the past year).

Zip Lock bags are really the best tip. We used them to pack our wet swim suits and water shoes on the last day.

A folder to put all our Navigators and papers in to keep.

Dramamine in case the waters get rough.

Have a great trip!

Brita makes a quart sized water container with filter. I'm bringing that this time. It won't take up much room, will be WAY cheaper than buying water and much easier than lugging water on board.

Thanks to everyone for all those great tips!

Waterproof disposable cameras with name on them - especially if you are going to do the Dolphin swim.

Goggles - pools get icky
Earplugs - to block out any noise
visine - pools get icky
corkscrew
Door sign - kids and their friends can always locate room
A location for dollar bills for room service tips
A location to put all navigators and any other paper work
Index cards to write down special events that the kids may
want to participate in (along with dif color hilights)
Post its to leave messages - like to teen "Don't forget Pizza
party at 11:30 on sports deck" And "we meet here at >>>"

All sizes of ziplocs. Ziplocs for snacks on excursion days and even on the day of departure. Ziploc all film roll in one place.
Extra grocery bags for dirty clothes and we brought trash bags and put our dirty beach towels in them. Castaway Cay was the last day and we had some sandy stuff to pack.

Business cards to write your information on the back when you exchane information with all your new magical friends!

drinks of choice if picky,my mom is bringing dr.pepper since there's onlt coke on board

The only things we used were the extension cord outlet, the clothes pins. There is a clothes line in the bathroom above the shower...just clipped the wet suits on it worked great.

We also had our address labels all ready to go for postcards we were sending to friends/family. What a time saver.

Ohiominnie...I love the luggage tag address label idea...we made labels for this year so my hubby wouldn't have to fill out those tags this year!

Thanks everyone for the additional great ideas I haven't seen on other threads! I wouldn't have thought about business cards but it makes sense.

I learned my lesson last year re the underwater camera. We did a dolphin swim and had to pay out the nose for their photos!

A few things I always bring ...
A small flashlight to see at night when going to the bathroom! Refillable sports bottle with strap for excusions. Mini air freshener for the tiny bathroom. Nail polish remover pads, they are great for touch ups and no big bottle to spill.

The one thing I didn't pack and had to borrow from DD, a comfy pair of sweats and long sleeved t shirt. If you are going to the film at night the theater is cool and you might wantto get out of your dinner things before sitting through a movie.

My favorite (and I think I got it from these boards before my first cruise) is pre-addressed labels for postcards! This way I don't have to spend time writing all of the addresses to send them to, and I don't forget to send one to my mother-in-law! I put them in a zip-lock bag so that they don't get wet, lost, etc.

Also--disposable cameras with my name and room number on them (both regular and underwater). This way, I can hand someone my camera to take a picture of all of us together, rather than handing over my rather complicated and expensive cameras.

I also bring the nightlight, and two battery-operated clocks. I keep one on the shelf in the bathroom, because certain members of my family tend to go in there and lose track of time!
