we will be in disney the first week in SEpt and will be using the dinning plan. this is our first time to use it and the first time to disney in about 15 years. I know that we can not share a meal and that is fine. but we will be doing 2 extra meal, that we will pay our of pocket. Can we share that? neither one of us eats a lot at a time but would love one special dinner ?I figure that when we go to most high end places out of the park we order one and share. Also how do we tell the people who seats us. they always ask if we are on the plan and yes we are but we might not be using the plan for that dinner.

We were on the DDP for the first time last week. In the past, when we were OOP, my daughter and I would share a meal quite frequently. There was never a problem. I would not hesitate to do that again, whether I was sharing with a child or a spouse, if I was paying OOP. (I initially thought she and I would share on the DDP, but after reading the boards decided not to mess with it.)

When you get to the restaurant and they ask if you are on the DDP, I would say "not this evening" Make sure on your receipt that they have not charged the meal to your plan. Another way to alleviate the worry would be to not allow charging privledges on your room key. That way when it came time for the bill you would have cash or cc. If the mistake was made on the part of the server, they would have to change it.

I think you'll have to wait and ask the server if you can share to be sure. Sometimes it depends on where you are dining. At the more upscale restaurants you might not be able to share.

However, I'm not sure if you have your ADR's yet but alot of restaurants are booked solid during the free dining time period. If you haven't, I'd stop everything and call now!

Good luck!

I think deleting charging privileges from the room key is a pretty extreme measure to take just to avoid having a couple meals accidentally charged to the DDP. I am sure if you explain to the server that you want to pay for the meal OOP, even though you are otherwise on the DDP, you will not have a problem.

Have you made your ADR's yet? You are going during a busy DDP period and many TS restaurants will be booked solid.
Please call ASAP if you have not yet made them, so that you can enjoy the benefits of the dining plan.

You can share a meal at any time. Don't feel awkward. You are paying. I would not do it at V & A or any place you pay per person. Sometimes you are just not hungry.
