October's OHANA -- Exercise Challenge

Put me down for 1000, please!
(I may up it a bit mid-month if I see I'm doing better than expected, but I figured this is a good start)

Thanks for hosting!

DRUM ROLL - PLEASE

The big day's here, October 1.

So far we're down for a combined 14,830 minutes for the month of October and I KNOW we can do it!

Let's do a question to get to know each other a bit:

Are there any exercises that you didn't think you'd like until you tried it, and now you LOVE it (or love to hate it in a really weird way)?

Last year my husband took me to the gym and taught me technique for weight training. I never thought I'd enjoy all the lifts but I became hooked.
Running and I have a love hate relationship. I love the idea of it and I feel great afterwards but I loathe every minute that I actually do it. Maybe over the month of October as I run more I will develop more love for running.

I am hoping to learn to love running too.

There is a pool class at our gym that I was surprised to really enjoy. I went into it thinking that I was too young/in-shape for an "easy" water class in a pool where you can touch the bottom. I crawled out of the pool an hour later - exhausted, surprised, and happy! They have since changed the name from "water aerobics" to "water boot camp" - a much more fitting title! Never again will I smirk at the mature women jumping around to music in the pool - those women can swim circles around me.

I'm in for 1500 this month. 78/1500

Thanks so much for hosting, Heather! Love the theme. :thumbsup2

Rose! I am so glad to see you here. I've been really thinking about you lately and hoping everything was all right.

Question: Zumba. Just didn't like it at all. Very weird because everybody raves about it. Guess I just have 2 left feet! :rotfl2: I need to fall in love with more videos because I should be upping my exercise a tad. I do the exact same thing day after day after day. Swim, walk, Y class, walk. rinse lather repeat :lmao: My foot can't make up its mind whether it's better or not so I never know how hard to push!

I'm going to try for the 1440 min.
This morning I had a 92 min run.
92/1440

Thanks for hosting. :)

Pilates. I was totally against the concept of it until I tried it ... and while I'm still having a hard time with it, I love it.

Not much for me today ... 15 minutes walking

15/1000

I'd like to join in if it's not too late. I'm planning on doing the TOT10miler in 2015 and need to get in shape and drop a ton of weight so put me down for 1350.

Today was 30/1350

UPDATED!

As a 'family' we're down for 19120 minutes this month or an average of 616 minutes a day!

Yeah...we're pretty cool!

After pushing to finish September's challenge I took yesterday as a "slug day" complete with sweats and chicken nuggets after work. but today, it's back in the saddle.

GO TEAM!

I never thought I would love push-ups. I used to really hate them and dread doing them. Granted I do them on my knees now, but there was a time a few years ago when I was doing them on my toes, with proper form of course, and that was when I really started to love them. Once I saw how much stronger they made my upper body, I couldn't get enough!

I never thought I would like pilates but I really love it. I do have to be careful because of lower back issues, but I modify and a lot of the exercises actually help my back.

45/900

I did 45 minutes of cardio yesterday. I'm kind of looking forward to weighing in tomorrow morning after eating so healthy since Saturday...the eating part has been going very well for me. But I say kind of because I know I did a lot of damage last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between Rosh Hashanah dinners on Wednesday and Thursday, and my niece's big Italian birthday dinner last Friday. I doubt I was able to reverse all that, but at least my habits are on the right track. Food has always been my biggest weakness, I love to exercise! This is also a bad time for me for the usual bloating, if you know what I mean.

This Sunday we are going to a very nice place for brunch with some of my cousins. It is a buffet which doesn't make me too happy, but I tend to be pretty careful at buffets and not completely overdo it. This restaurant we are going to smokes their own salmon and trout, so I am going to focus on that and the other healthy options first. They make eggs to order, and if can enjoy a nice egg white omelette with veggies in it, or if I feel like poached eggs instead I will get those. They also have plenty of fresh fruit and salads. I will stick to those before grabbing anything sweet or baked. If I grab the sweet stuff or baked goods first, I'm in trouble! ;)

I just finished early morning aquafit class so I'm now 90/1350 yeah me!

I used to do step classes years and years and pounds ago and hated them but now I miss them. I'm thinking of starting on my wii again this weekend and then eventually moving to a class at the gym.

Walked this morning with my 11 year old dd. 30/900

We intended to do a morning walk yesterday but she was having trouble falling asleep the night before and slept a bit later. But weather was decent. Slight breeze with cool air but a hint of sunny warmth. Love it when this is our daily high. ;) SOON!! When the rest(or most) of the country will be freezing over.

Can I come live with you in a couple of months!???

EVERYONE'S DOING AWESOME TODAY!!!!

Ran today 40/900 minutes. As usual hated the run itself but love the feeling afterwards.

Good day for me today:
60 minutes walk/run (including warm up & cool down)
20 minutes walking

95/1000

Looks like people are doing great - keep up the good work, everyone!

80/900

35 minutes of cardio today.

My poor DS9 had 3 teeth extracted today. :(
He has to get an expander put in for his upper teeth by the orthodontist on Columbus Day. He has a cross bite and crowding issues on the top. So he had to get 3 baby teeth pulled first. He was such an excellent patient! We are are proud of him. He is waiting for the tooth fairy to come tonight so he could see how much he will get! Even though they were baby teeth, they had some pretty long roots, especially the canine tooth. He was amazed when he saw it!
