Well looks like I'm taking my first "solo" trip to WDW in October.

Any hints for this first timer?? My best friend was suppose to join me and she just can't swing the time off. DH is also tight with time then and can't change his plans.

I'll be there for the Food and Wine Festival and it's just a short stay; 4 nights. I'm definately looking forward to hitting the parks when I want to, but it's the eating alone that has me a bit worried unless I do the F&W every day!!! :rotfl2:

You may end up loving solo so much you will make it an annual event. Go with the flow..get up when ya want...eat when ya want...ride what ya want...take pictures...watch people...enjoy the heck out of yourself!

I had my first solo trip this past January and now I love them. I even made sure I had a couple solo days in October just because I enjoyed it so much.

You get to do whatever you want, when you want. Very relaxing.

It was fun getting to go on Pirates a couple times in a row because i know my family wouldn't have let me do that.

Eating alone isn't that bad. Only place that made me feel awkward in January was Crystal Palace. The characters kept passing by me. Won't be going back there again. Everywhere else was fine. You can get into some really good conversations with the waiters that way.

Also, with the fun events of the Food and Wine you may end up meeting people if you do any of the events. I know I'm planning on doing some of the events solo and I'm sure there are going to be some other Disers doing the events I'm planning on going to.

I L-O-V-E solo trips! (For the record, I DO also like sharing the World with others! :goodvibes: )

I find when I do solo trips, I'm more likely to stop and smell the roses, not sweat the small stuff and any other phrase by which I can stress that idea!

I do more people-watching - sometimes it makes me love the human race more (especially the little ones) and other times...well, other times it makes me more thankful for the part of the human race that I love.

Going at your own pace is the biggest draw. If you want to be up to watch the sunrise - do it. If you want to be out later than the PI crowds - do it. If you want to have Zebra Domes for breakfast - do it. (That's on my To Do list for my solo trip next year :hyper:)

I can understand the worry about eating alone. In the past I've generally shied away from character meals and table service meals on my solo trips, but once I found the Dis I realize what I was missing out on! All that GOOD food! I still don't know that I'd do a character meal alone, though to be fair I'm not a HUGE character junkie in the first place, but I'll definitely be making ADR's for Boma, Le Cellier and a few other places I'd like to try.

The other thing I've read and have even felt myself, a little, on past solo trips is being self-conscious that you're there alone. Who cares?! First off, people are so suffused in their own Disney Magic, they would never notice and second...well...who cares!

ENJOY!

When my friend told me she couldn't make the trip at first I was a little concerned. But now, after reading different posts and these replies I know I'l be just fine. Actually I'm looking forward to it!! Not that I don't enjoy being with my husband and friends. But just being able to do what I want when I want.......what a concept!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
