We have a trip planned September 29-October 14 of this year and I'm looking for packing suggestions.

I don't wear shorts, I wear capris and dresses in the summer, but I was wondering if I could pull off regular long jeans in October? Will it be too hot? Too uncomfortable? I'm always cold and usually have a vest in my bag for air-conditionned places. I was also thinking bringing some summer dresses with short-sleeved cardis. Would that be ok for Florida weather in October?

Bear in mind that we live in Canada, near Ottawa, so the weather is quite different, lol! ;)

TIA! :)

It's gonna be WAY to hot for jeans if you ask me. HAHA, keep in mind I'm from Cornwall Ontario so the EXACT area you're using as a refrence point and Florida in October is hotter then *most* of our summers by about 10-15 degrees sometimes. This year of course being an exception to the rule with this ungodly heat spell.

I'm a non-shorts wearing lady myself. I usually do capris. The last time we went was the last two weeks of September, and it was definitely WAY too hot for jeans, like high 80s if I remember correctly.

I am also usually a capri's kind of gal too, it is still way to hot for jeans that time of year, even at night it doesn't cool off much.

HOT HOT HOT we were there in 09 end of Sept the heat was terrible I also don't wear shorts but i wished i had them it was so bad if I was you I would just check the weather the week before

Too hot and too humid for jeans. I shudder to think of the chafing that would cause. Long pants sure, but I would go for a material that breathes.

I would look for dri-fit athletic Capri's, such as Nike, etc. Or would you consider extra long shorts, such as soccer length? It's usually still quite warm that time of year.

I loved shopping for shorts this year as the Bermuda(longer) shorts are in the stores. I think they are a good option for shorter people.

Some years they are so hard to find.

You will not be comfortable in jeans, not even at night.

We go in October and I have to say, I never had to wear long pants. I did bring a sweatshirt in case it got cool, but never needed it. :)

Living in the Sun Belt (south AL the weather is very similar)...I have worn jeans in Oct before.....but it was for evening ADRs....not for parks.....and I had on a tank top on top. if you aren't used to the heat you probably won't need them...I love dry fit capris and hiking gear (wear them all year round in the sun belt) and they have pockets! most skirts don't;)

FYI those of us that live in the sun belt don't put shorts away until after Thanksgiving.

Hard to tell this far out. We almost always go in October. Two years ago there was a heatwave and it was 105 with the heat index. But we have also been there around the same time and been FREEZING the whole trip. My hubby had to buy a jacket and I layered on everything I packed!

The number of trips you have taken to DW makes me soooo jealous!:snooty: Do you think on your next DW trip you can swing by BWI and pick me up? I'm very friendly and will help with airfare!:lmao:

And to the OP. I have had it both ways in mid October. Hotter than 14 hells and cool at night like October in Maryland -- around 60. Pack for both. Somebody on the boards gave me that advice a few years ago and they were right on the money.

Way to hot for jeans. I haven't been to Disney in October, but I have been to Florida.

Capri's will be fine and just bring along a light hoodie for air conditioned places.

When we went in Oct of 2009. We cruised first it was hot hot. then 4 days at WDW hot hot record highs for 2 days then last two days record lows. my point if you can fit a pair of jeans in your suitcase then do so, there was not a sweatshirt to found when the cold snap hit-I froze big time.

We've been to Disney around the time you're suggesting, and I agree with the others that it really is too hot for jeans most days. I could see changing into them in the evenings when you don't have the sun beating down on you, but it would be too uncomfortable for the entire day.

I live in Florida, and October weather is a "crap-shoot". Yes, most of the time October is way too hot for jeans, but we do have cold snaps that can hit. You will be safe bringing capris and a pair of jeans, just in case. I would also pack a sweater and a sweatshirt that you can throw on over a t-shirt in case it gets chilly.

Coming from the north we all have a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt/jacket with us. Worn on the plane or worn part of the drive south. That gives us our just in case warmer clothing. Last year we were there in mid October and we only wore shorts or capris. I did need a light sweater a couple of cooler mornings and evenings.

The historical avg. temp for the time periods: Avg high 90, Avg low 72. That said Fl. weather is unpredictable, last Halloween it was 92 with humidity and a way high heat index. It will be way too hot for jeans not to mention the problems those would pose anyway. I agree with PP that something dri fit would be better. Dresses will be okay if you plan accordingly and are careful with low slung rides climbing in and out, I would use body glide or the like to prevent chafing. My dd always takes a jacket even in the heat as she finds the A/C very cold when we go inside.

Also, what is considered hot to someone who lives in the area vs. someone from Canada is a very different perception.
