Hello all,

It's been a while since my last trip to WDW. I've never been before in October and was wondering what the weather is like and the crowds compared to June?

My ex husband, me and our daughter used to go yearly in June and have had one December trip but this time I have opted for an October trip.

Also what's changed in the past 2.5 years, have we missed much??

Thanks all

Andrea

October is beautiful! The temperatures can vary considerably from the beginning of the month to the end but there is a massive drop in the humidity level compared to the summer months and is even noticeable from September.

Both years we did waterparks and swam in October (and I won't get into water if it's not at least 30C outside :rotfl:)

Far less rain on average than June to September
Crowds are going to be lighter than the summer although with the Halloween parties in full swing, we have found that the days MK is open all day (i.e. non party days) it was very busy. That said, we didn't find wait times for attractions to be bad at all.

We're going earlier this year because DD has a school trip in October but I wouldn't hesitate to go at that time of the year again.

october's a fantastic time to go - great weather and the halloween party...what more could you want???? :goodvibes

OOOhhh I notice you have done a trip report, I will be having a read to see how you found it!

We're going the last two and a half weeks of October, do you think it will still be hot enough to wear shorts and t shirts from morning until night?

Did you go to Universal at all?

Thanks

Andrea

I've never done the Halloween party, only the Christmas party and because im not a massive parade fan I didn't think it was worth the $$$ to be honest. Do you think it is worth it?

I do think I could collect enough candy to cover my entrance fee though!!

Thanks

Andrea

October's great, Epcot Food & Wine Festival - need I say more? :rotfl2:

I am looking forward to the food and wine festival! I've been readding the food reports for months now, I need to start making a list!!

We were there the first two weeks of October and it was plenty warm enough. That year there was no rain at all the whole month! Yes, definitely pack shorts. I did find in the evenings leaving the parks I needed a light cardigan, but then I feel the cold even when it's not cold. My daughter however never needed anything more than a t shirt or strappy top on her so it depends on your personal thermostat

We go the last week in October and during the day its in the mid 80s to 90s and we were shorts in the evening too. The last 2 years, we have not had to wear long pants or sleeves at night.

October is perfect for Disney

the halloween party is better value than the xmas party, in my opinion...

the halloween parade is really fun to watch even if you're not a parade person (i'm not either)..and they have special fireworks as well..

and lots of special decorations and characters around the park..

and yes, you can definitely snag enough candy to feed an army!!!!

but then, i've always loved halloween so i might be biased!!

I'm generally a cold person but i'm keeping my fingers crossed for no cardigan needed and a tan!

I am hoping for waterpark weather too!

I am soooo looking forward to the Halloween decorations and im not sure yet about te halloween party as my little girl is not so little now (she will be 12 at the time of our trip) so i'm not sure if it will be something she would lik to do!

She doesn't know about the trip yet, i'm trying to keep it a surprise for as long as possible!

age 12 is perfect for the halloween party....and so is my age and my daughter's age (27) and my sister's age (62) and my mom's age (85)..

i don't think there's an age that doesn't enjoy the halloween party... :)

We often go in October and I think it's about the best time of year to go.

It's still nice and warm (definitely shorts and water parks weather), great decorations and fireworks plus the food and wine festival, and not too busy.

It can be a bit rainy if you are unlucky but overall it's a great time to go - which is why we will be back there again this year:goodvibes

Maybe last year there was a poll on here - best month to go - October won by far.

This year will be our 3rd October.

Great time to go. Warmer than our summer - we wear shorts/t shirts. Not humid and little rain. You will get loads done.

Crowds are low you will just notice that Brits are a big part of the visitors as it is half term eg we lined up to see donkey at Universal (from Shrek) and everyone else was Scottish which donkey though was hilarious.

Love October! Best month to go IMO. We last went in October 2009, lowest temp was 28, highest was 40! Perfect weather and crowds :)

Sounds great, I'm so excited now!
