october trip/columbus day weekend

First off-I am new to this site, thank you all for the great news/tips posted here! We will be taking our 2nd family trip to WDW from October 5th-October 11th, kids ages 7,5,2, we will be staying at the Poly. I am sorry if this question has been asked/answered already....but,Our 1st trip was the end of Sept-beginning of October, and we had the BEST time with very little waits. This year, due to husband's work schedule and kids having off for 2 days in October, we picked the above dates. I have started to get a little nervous that the crowds will be big during that Columbus Day weekend and on Columbus Day. Does anyone have any thoughts/ suggestions as to what parks to do/avoid on that Sat./Sun./ and Mon.? I am hoping that with some planning, even with bigger crowds it will be still manageable. Thanks so much in advance....I really appreciate it!!!

Last year on Columbus Day Weekend, the Fri. night MNSSHP sold out. Having said this, we still had walk-ons to every ride during the party, and the days that weekend at all the parks did not seem crowded at all. However, due to the celebration, I would expect some crowds this year. I doubt it will be anything major...hopefully nothing like the summer or Christmas kind of crowds, but I would say expect more crowds than you had on your last trip.

We're also going during this time - what's helped me is reading all the tips on those going on really busy days, Memorial Day, Happiest Day Celebration, Labor Day, 4th of July... etc, after reading tips and advice, and reports, I know its a magical time just to BE at Disney, it will all work out!!!

It should not be as bad as July 4...unless they REALLY pick up from past years. I know it will be busier, but I wouldn't expect anything to reach full capacity just because it's Columbus weekend....let's all hope anyway.
