We are headed to CR Oct 2 for 7 nights. How are the crowds at the parks during the first week of October? We are planning a day at one of the water parks - is the temp still warm? Last question - I know the weather can't be predicted - but is this a rainy time?

Thanks for always replying.

It can be busy depends on when the WDW Golf Challenge starts in October. But no where as busy as holidays and summers.

Weather can be a bit humid. Don't worry about the rain -- take your poncho with you and you will be fine. If it rains --- it will pour and be done.

Crowds aren't too bad, but can get busy. As far as the temps...yes, you can still swim. We are still in hurricane season as far as the season...so there can be a hurricane threat. The rains are usually starting to wind down by Oct..but you should expect to get some.

We were a WDW last Oct and the weather was hot and humid. We were there the second week. And yes it was crowded. The parks were scheduled to close earlier that week, around 6 or 7. But with all the people, they remained open til 10 or 11. It was the week of the golf challenge. Also Mission space, Wishes, and Mickey's Philharmagic just opened. But... when we went in Oct 2000 it was a ghost town and the temps were near 80. So you never know.

We were there last October during the golf challenge - it wasn't nearly as crowded as I was expecting. I thought the weather was nice (although I'm used to hot and humid!) Be sure and do the MNSSHP. It was the highlight of our trip!

We were there the first week of October last year. The crowds weren't that bad. The only problem was at least one park closed early each day because it was press day (that's when they opened the new rides and displayed the new fireworks).

It only rained twice. Once at about 7 at night and the other time it stopped before 10 in the morning. It was two different occasions, not the morning after the evening rain. The temps were warm and it was humid. I remember taking my DS up the tobogan runs at Blizzard Beach and how warm it was climbing the stairs (and this was while only wearing a swimming suit). I told my DW "I can't believe I'm sweating at a waterpark":sunny: .

We also went the same week 11 years ago and I remember it being very warm and humid then with rain on only a couple of occassions.

You will definitely have a lot more sun than you will rain that week.

When and where is the WDW Golf Challenge? Never heard of it. Actually we were going to try playing golf while we were down there , does anyone know which places we shouldn't go or are they all oing to be booked b/c of that?

We are also going in October (8-15). It's my first trip, so I can't speak from experience, but I've read EVERYTHING I can find. The golf tounament will be the third week of October (21-24) and the temps will be in the mid- to upper-80s and it rains a lot less in October then September.

As usual, I knew I could count on the DIS family to answer my questions.

Thanks.

Greetings,
We have gone the first (2) weeks in October for the last (5) years. We settled on this time because the weather is warm although not as warm as it is during the mid summer. The rain is also tapering off by beginning of fall and there are few days, if any, that you will encounter any measureable rain. You will be quite comfortable swimming at the hotel pool or at one of the water parks.
The crowds are very manageable and if you arrive when the parks open you should have no trouble covering the parks even with shorter hours.
In short, this is a perfect time to visit.
