1. Is early October really any better/different weather wise than early to mid September?

2. What is the liklihood of SWGE being open by early to mid October?

1. No. It is still hot. This past October it was in the 90s.

2. I would say slim to no chance of that.

Early October has still been hot. Maybe a little less hot or humid but not by enough to sway my travel dates. I've been in November when it was 96 degrees, so I don't ever count on cooler weather anymore.

I wouldn't count on SWGE opening that early. They may really surprise us, but I wouldn't plan a trip around it being open at that time.

Haha. More that I want to avoid it being open!!!

We go mid to late Oct and always see a 90 or two. Avoid Columbus Day, the weekend prior and the Tues after, like the plague.

Jumping on to this.
I know October is very very popular month to visit. We are trying to fit one last trip in with our APs. How is the first weekend of October usually? Obviously it's always crowded, but comparatively?

A couple weeks isn't going to make a big difference in temps. It's just as likely to be really hot in October as it is in mid September. But you would likely have big crowd increases.

We decided to move our October fall break trip to Thanksgiving week instead. At last then there aren't parties in MK every other dang night. Weather is better, too.

Before we fell in love with F&W we regularly went the first week to 10 days in March, my school's Spring break, last time was 2014. If you avoid the days surrounding Columbus Day it feels to us like Oct is slightly less crowded than early March and the weather is reliably better, as we define 'better' , than March which can have some long pants and windbreaker days,

Our early Oct trip was extra hot and dry (only 1 morning with any rain) with almost all 90+ days. It was awful for us Pac NW people. We're going to stick to winter trips.

I agree with PPs, but we were there this past October for 10 days (10/19-10/28) and had great weather. Rained only once briefly, and it was a sprinkle. The rest of the time it was in the low 80s and there were a few nights we needed hoodies. So, at some point during October, its possible for the weather to turn from the intense heat and humidity.

You must have blocked out the heat on the 20th - it was hot as hell that day, felt like 93. The next day was awesome but that Sat was hot hot hot.

Might have felt that hot, but I don't think the temps and relative humidity were as intense as August or early September. There's bound to be outliers in temperature any trip that time of year - either a hot day or a cold day.

How were the crowds for your trip?

We usually go mid to late October. Normally it is in the 80s. Last year was 90's every day.
I don't expect SWGE to be open in October or November. Might be having soft openings near the end of November.
In a way I would be shocked to see them open it just before the huge Christmas rush.

We went for the first time in October last year, 10/5-10/13, and decided we'll never go in October again. The weather was brutal- hot and humid (and we're from south Texas), rained a few times but nothing major. The worst part for us was MK being closed like 4 nights a week for the Halloween Party. All the other parks closed at 8p/9p so we spent most nights at Disney Springs or at the Top of the World lounge.

Unfortunately from September (and even a few nights in August) through December, the MK is closed several nights a week for parties.

We went Oct 5th to 13th last year and it was hot and crowded. We expected less crowds but several Eastern states have week+ long fall breaks during that time and they all seem to go to WDW. I'm pretty sure half of Tennessee and Kentucky went on down to WDW while we were there.

Between the shorter hours, MK being closed for party nights, and the heat we won't be going back in early October again. You might have better luck later in October.

We were there October 26 to Nov 2 and it was very nice. Not hot. We went to a MNSSHP and it was the best. Not over crowded and comfortable weather. It rained 1 time on Nov 2 as we drove into the airport to go home.
I would go this week again.
