I am planning a family trip to make up for the one we had to cancel due to COVID-19. I originally planned it for the week of October 10th because we have only 3 school days that week. Now I’m seeing posts about how busy it will be during this time. Now I’m wondering if I should move it up a few weeks to mid September. What are y’all’s thoughts on this?

I did years of UO in that October time period as my kids were out of school on breaks
(And I was a teacher)

September has lighter crowds and better hotel room rates for during the week days.

Weekends have higher room costs

More chance of weather and rain in September but it’s a hit or miss at times

Halloween Horror Nights is running extra days this year from Sept. 3rd through October 31st. This is a highly popular event for many Universal aficionados who plan their trips around it. It is extended this year because it was cancelled last year, plus it's the 30th anniversary so many people are expected to want to attend. Plus general "We need a vacation" vibes. Onsite rooms are booking up quickly.

September is cheaper because it is traditional peak hurricane season, plus many parents won't pull their kids out at the start of the school year.
