Any questions, ask!! We are planning to come back for Mardi Gras! YIPPY!

Day 1 - Sunday, October 6
Check in at Port Orleans French Quarter was quick and we received a GREAT room, first floor corner, king size bed, overlooking fountain, very quiet and very nice. Refillable mugs are now $11.99, shared a bus with Riverside.
Having only been to the World during peak times and holidays, I was pleasantly surprised...the resort was pretty empty. We may have ran across five people on our way to the busses. Went to EPCOT and from there rode the front car of the monorail to. From MK, we took the boat to Wilderness Lodge, where we used a Connections voucher at Roaring Forks (the chili is WONDERFUL!). We then boated to Contemporary to watch Fantasy in the Sky. Much to my dismay, the upper deck is now closed to the public, reserved only for California Grill patrons. Everyone was directed to the north fourth floor balcony, but there was no sound:( The fireworks were still spectacular.

Day 2 - Monday, October 7
Hit EE at AK. We ran straight for Kilimanjaro, no wait and all the animals were out and about, left loading area is under rehab, then to Rafiki’s Jungle Trek. After regular opening, there were only 10-15 minute wait maximum on all the rides. We were done with the park at 12:30, with the exception of Lion King, which wasn’t showing again until 1:45. We then bussed to AK Lodge, just to look around.
Next to MGM, road RnRC twice in a row, ToT and Star Tours, no waits. We then boated to the Beach Club to eat at Beaches and Cream with a voucher (I LOVE THIS PLACE!!). The food was great, as always. We noticed the hot tub area had rehab going on. Back to MGM, rode RnRC three more times (no wait) and sat for Fantasmic a half hour before show time and still got great seats.

Day 3 - Tuesday, October 8
Arrived at MK at 10 a.m. The computer systems seemed to be down at the entrance, Park Hoppers were getting stamped and my AP was checked manually, I felt like it was my first trip in ‘79 all over again. The monorail was down too due to electrical problems. There were characters everywhere, in front of the train station, in Main Street Courtyard and the castle area. Every ride we went on was five minute waits (all three mountains, Barnstormer and Tiki Room). We used another voucher for lunch at Columbia Harbor.
We then went back to POFQ for a dip in the pool and a small break before heading to MGM for PS at 50s Prime Time. Uncle Dale, our waiter, was a hoot. He kept encouraging us to let him use “dad’s liquor cabinet keys,” so we gave in and ordered margaritas and Hot Rods :)
After dinner, we boated to EPCOT for a night of relaxation with wine tasting in France and Germany. As we were walking out of Germany, ropes were going up for Tapestry, so we got a front row spot! After Tapestry, we did some shopping, the department store in Japan is being remodeled and the merchandise is dispersed throughout the country. A CM told us they were adding sake tasting to the store. Before leaving we walked on to Test Track.

Day 4 - Wednesday, October 9
We had a very long bus trip to AK, where we caught the Lion King show missed on Day 1. Lunch at Pizzafari, with a voucher. Then off to MGM again, where the Backstage Tour closed while we were in line, and Millionaire experienced “technical difficulties” the first 15 minutes we were in there (do you see a pattern here??). Luckily, we had a fast pass, so we went back in. The guy in the hot seat got all the way to the million dollar question and lost!! Even more ironic, he was there on a free trip his friend won from winning in Disneyland! We then went back to Beaches and Cream, voucher, then to Downtown for some shopping. Once Upon a Toy...awesome.

Day 5 - Thurday, October 10
Got to EPCOT around noon and hit Future World. The longest wait was Living with the Land (30 minutes), so we got a fast pass and waited it out with some chicken soup (scalding hot but good!). We finished up World Showcase, where walls are everywhere in preparation for the Food and Wine Festival, and Maelstrom is under rehab still.
Went back to the room, cleaned up and took the WORST and LONGEST bus trip EVER!! It took us two hours, yes, two hours, to get from POFQ to DTD to Beach Club. A woman got on our bus with a scooter and didn’t know how to parallel park it to be strapped in, that took 20 minutes and because of that, the BC bus was pulling away as we were driving up to DTD (ARGH!!). We ate at Cape May and split a bottle of wine, dinner was $100 including tip, but well worth it. Walked over to Boardwalk, caught end of BC/VT game (did you know they have tvs in the bathroom stalls??), then to the Dance Hall, where there was no cover and a DJ.

Day 6 - Friday, October 11
Blizzard Beach - little to no lines, except for tube and mat pickups and ski lift. This is a great waterpark! They have enacted the bar code system on the refillable mugs in the park, cheap skates beware! Also, when you rent a locker, they give you a choice of getting two dollars back or a free souvenir mug, I took the mug.
Now the highlight of the trip (until tomorrow) - MNSSHP! There were so many people going from POFQ that we needed two busses in a row, no stopping for Riverside. We dressed as an LSU baseball player and cheerleader and got compliments all over the park. NOTE: MORE ADULTS NEED TO DRESS UP!! COME ON PEOPLE!!! We ran into LSU students both in the parks and working. But our Jungle Cruise pilot let us have it....she goes to Ole Miss!! LOL.
Fortune teller lines were always long when we passed, longest lines we saw for attractions were Pooh and Space Mountain. Fantasy in the Sky was great, as always, and even though we didn’t watch the parade, we saw the Headless Horseman getting ready to ride on the bridge between the Castle and Liberty Square! HM music was playing all down Main Street, the old Skyway entrance in FL was lit up for candy, Space Mountain had a spider and web imposed on it, and CMs in HM were painted to look extra creepy and dead. As a “big kid,” my treat bag got only 1/4 of the way full, but it made me happy to see the little tikes with full bags. And whoever says MNSSHP is not crowded at the end of the night, wrong! I found crowds better when we first arrived, but it was still great.

Day 7 - Saturday, October 12
BOO HOO! Last day. We did express checkout at POFQ, loaded the car and headed to MK and MGM for our final shopping sprees, no rides. MK was PACKED, like summer packed and it was hot! I had to end the trip with one last trip to Beaches, then it was off to Gainesville to watch the Tigers whoop butt and take names on the Gators!! Perfect end to a perfect vacation.

Wow you sure packed alot into your trip and sounds like you had a blast - thanks for posting!

Great report. Wish I was at the LSU game as well. Did you drive? If so, how was road construction on 10 and 75. Did you find the Connectins vouchers worthwhile?

Yes, we drove. It was smooth sailing the whole way down 10 and especially 75 with three lanes. We left Saturday night from Baton Rouge after the LSU/USL game, drove in to Pensacola to stay at my sisters (3.5 hours) then it took us about eight hours with the time change to get to Orlando. The only construction we encountered was right before Pensacola, but it was nothing at all, just some cones as they put up another weigh station.
The Connections vouchers are well worth it, especially at Beaches and Pizzafari. Other places, such as Cosmic Rays, Columbia House we came out about $3 ahead, but Beaches, the steak sandwich alone costs $11, same as the voucher.

Sounds like a great time, and hope the crowds stay just as low next week for us! We have our Connections vouchers all ready to use at B&C, and breakfast vouchers for the CMC character breakfast, as well.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the road construction info. We'll be driving that route next month (yippee!) so hopefully we'll have a similar experience. Thanks for sharing your report with us....sounds like you had a wonderful time! :)

I-10 from Houston to Lake Charles, La is undergoing major construction. Bypass if at all possible. You're OK if you take I-49 to Lafayette then east on I-10.

Great trip! Those TV sin the bathroom at ESPN really amuse me! They must have them at all the ESPN clubs - they have bathroom TVs in the NYC one, too.

Thanks for all the great info. One question---do you know how long the store in Japan is closed? I'm going the week of Veteran's day and we love this store.

I believe the CM said they plan on reopening in November sometime, so you may get in. I love this store too, its my favorite shop stop in EPCOT. Luckily, all the merchandise is still out. The part of the store carrying the food and Japanese fans, the back section, is still open, and the Hello Kitty, toys and cook books are in the back building.

My aunt is traveling with me and she LOVES to select an oyster to get a pearl and than have it made into some sort of jewelry. Last year she got "twins" and had earrings made out of them. It's the highlight of her trip.

ellyn2000,
Your aunt will be happy to know that part of the store is still there. Did you know you can do this in Animal Kingdom as well?
