october half term

hi I am thinking of booking wdw next month for october 2007 half tern,
I am wondering Is this a busy time of the year?

also how is the end of august crowd wise ?
which would be the best end of august or october?

Hi

We found the crowds last October to be good. Although it had days were it was busy, but the lines for some rides were quick and others were packed. Mission Space was 10 mins everytime we went, Test Track was 20 mins, Soarin was 90 mins, Rock N Roller Coaster was a walk on or 10 mins. It really wasnt that bad. I cant say for the end of August,as I have only been mid and it was awfully packed and the heat was unbearable to say the least.

In my opinion I would go October 2007 and while your thier experience MNSCHP and Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. We are booking again for Oct 2007.

October half term week is usually quite light in terms of crowd levels and as mentioned before you will get to do Mickey's not so scary Halloween Party and the EPCOT food and Wine festival.

It is our preferred time of year to visit because of this and the fact that the weather is usually dry and hot but not too hot

This time of year is becoming ever more popular with us Brits though and the travel companies are cashing in on this as prices at this time of year seem to be going up rapidly

My county has not yet released the term dates for Winter 2007 but I would expect it to be around the last week of October if the normal pattern prevails

wideeyes I have been a number of times at the end of August and we found the crowds pretty manageable. It is extraordinarily hot and humid but a good option in terms of crowds as a lot of the US schools return back in the middle of August.

Wie have been lots of times in oct and love it. The weather is great (little rain). We love mnsshp and food and wine festival. I agree it is getting busier with us brits and the prices are going up for this time of year but well worth it. In recent years Aug has prooved to be a bit risky with all the hurricanes and although would be easier to take the kids out of school at this time, I still have my doubts. Hope this helps.

Our holidays are usually the first 2 weeks in October. We got really lucky we were just back last March when TCD posted October 2006. As our hols are so early they had great October prices for us from Scotland. Perhaps they hadn't realised at the time that it was school hols .Needless to say we grabbed them just in time as the price went up by £500 for the five of us a few weeks later.!!

Sheffield has just announced the Summer break to end on the 5th Sept 2006 and the kids go back to school on Mon 30th Oct, after half term

I read on an American website somewhere that the last 2 weeks in October are always "quite busy" due to the large amount of brits travelling to WDW for some reason!

I am thinking that october 2007 will be 19th-29th if they follow in pattern

ie oct 2005 was 21st -31st oct
oct 2006 is 20th-30th oct.

This is cheshire so it may differ for other areas

We normally go for the last two weeks in October ,have also been tail end of September ( more rain) and beginning of November but find our normal time best, hardly any rain low level lines and temperatures generally in the low 80's, strange thing though, seems to be nearly all Brits in the parks at this time of year!!

Yes there are plenty of Brits but i expect this is nothing compared to US holiday periods.

We have been oct half term a couple of times and going again this year (not cos we have kids but cos we love Haloween. It wasn't that busy (although once was just after 9/11 but that,maybe,was an exception) but other times was ok - we have also been end of august which was really busy as one of the USA bank holidays - i think columbia day (?) was then and also really hot. the climate in oct was much better.
