We've booked 14 days at WDW in Oct 06, the week before half term and half-term week as I don't want my DS to miss too much school.

I know there aren't any US holidays during that time but wondered if our October half term would make the crowds worse or not??

Completely OT... but you're from where I'm from :D
Yay!

Was in the world last year at October ht, was a great time to go, weather excellent and queue times were fine, obviously was better to fastpass the biggies but there were loads of rides that we could just walk on, or we'd fastpass and then standby queue and then fastpass queue again! most cms I spoke to said it was a really quiet time of the year but we noticed it got busier later in the day due to MNSSHP

Hi there VSL

Whereabouts are you? We're in Blackwood. Good to see another Welshie whose nuts about WDW too.

We noticed quite a difference our last October compared to the previous one. I think it was because Disney were doing one of their special offers to try and get the Americans to visit and so all the resorts were VERY busy, therefore so too were the parks.

We spent the first week (week and a half before our half term over here) in Orlando and this is when it was very busy, especially when we compared MNSSHP to the previous trip (still excellent though). The first time we literally walked on ALL the rides, including Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan etc. The latter trip we had 15-20 min waits on most rides. The same was to be had in Universal, even with FOTL access for staying onsite we couldn't go round and round on MIB and Spiderman like we have previously. However, after our week in Orlando we moved down to the beach for another couple of weeks and a couple we got talking to there our second week had moved down from Orlando and said it was much quieter, so hopefully your two weeks you should just time it about right :cool1:

Sadly October is becoming a very popular time to go over there for the Brits, especially when schools bring in the new term structure and have two weeks off in October. The prices for October have reflected how popular it is too - the costs have been creeping up - stil not as bad as the summer though :sad2:

It's a great time of year to go. The weather is fantastic, the crowds will be fine.

we were at WDW last october it was busy but nothing like the summer months. we have just booked the same two weeks for october 06 we thought we were early but when we phoned virgin to book the 11 15 flight on 14/10/06 all the economy seats had gone.

Hi Catherine,

Just wanted to let you know that on 10/10 there is Columbus Day so the weekend of 8/10 & 9/10 might be alittle more crowded than usual.
Also here in the northeast of the U.S. there are 2 days off (4/10, & 5/10) for the jewish holiday.

:)

Hi
We have been to orlando every year since 2000 in october half term and weve always found very little queue's,most of the time your straight on.The only excepetion is columbus day very busy. You should also try the horror nights at universal but this can be scary for the younger ones.
