It's become a tradition to take each of my kids for a mom and me wdw trip when they turn 8. Next year will be my youngest daughters bday in late September. Weve never been during mnsshp but would consider it. We've been in January and liked it even though it rained a bit and was colder than we expected (though coming from Illinois was still wonderful). So how are the crowds and weather in October. She would miss a few days of school but our teachers are great at sending work with them. She's a very good student so not concerned with getting behind etc

October is a great month but avoid Columbus Day weekend for crowds. Weather is perfect in my opinion and crowds are usually down the first week of October :)

October is perfect. We're going mid-October this year, which is ok but I loved late October!
Late October- we checked in Oct 28th. We had a few days of Halloween festivities, including MNSSHP. The resorts all seemed to do something fun on Halloween as well. Dress up- it's fun and a lot of people do it! It was still warm enough on most days to go swimming and get some sun.
We stayed through Nov 7th or so. A cold front moved through and it was very chilly the last day (sweatshirt and then I was still cold). However, the had taken down most of the Halloween decorations and had put up a good part of the Christmas decorations. We didn't get to see everything lit up, but it was awesome!

What's the weather like the first part of october? Trying to decide to do right on her bday - the 26th of sept or wait a little till end of month

If I had to choose, I would go the last week of October. The temperatures are finally cooling off, the crowds are low and you are going to get deep discounts like Free Dining.

Typically, the first and last week of October is the best time to go. The second and third week of October are usually blacked out for free dining discounts and room discounts. The first week will be good for crowds and discounts but it will still be very hot.

its horrible! Don't go....just kidding! I joke because its one of our favorite times. Weather is great but not sweltering like in July. Crowds tend to be lighter. F&w festival in Epcot....fun all around. Enjoy.

The weather in October can be extremely varied. I've been five times in October (different times of the month), and have experienced:

* Low 60s (quite a surprise!)
* Upper 70s to Low 80s, fairly humid
* Hot (mid-to-upper 80s) and humid
* Extremely hot (90s most days), very humid
* And a hurricane in 2005!

So there's no way to know. Generally, the later in the month, the more chance you'd have for it to be better weather - but not always!

October is a really good time to go to WDW. Also love Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

October is the BEST time to go. Low or no humidity, no afternoon thunderstorms, low to mid80's in the day, 70s at night - most of the time. We have been there when it is hot but normally really comfortable. We go the last week in October for 10-11 days and absolutely love it.

MNSSHP is also great. Fireworks and parade are fantastic, treat or treatin, the park is all decked out.

Crowds are not bad at all just stay away from the F&W on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. It is mobbed.

Have fun!

I would go on her birthday into the beginning of Oct, you will be out of there before the October crowds build and you will still have a MNSSHP and F&W

As others have said the weather can vary greatly the beginning of October. We have booked that week a few times and end up changing it because the weather is still in the high 80's, low 90's. But generally is it definitely lower humidity. If you really want to be there for her bday then book that last week Sep/beg of Oct, but if you want a bit cooler weather I would wait a few weeks, it really does make a difference.

We've done late September & pretty much all the weeks of October (our DDs went to a year round school so we could plan a vacation in September or October) and it's been great, the weather is still good, 80 degrees or so in the day, cools off a bit in the evening. Love the Wine & Food festival, in fact we'll be there for a few days after we disembark from our October Disney cruise. :cool1:
