October GFVs Booking Question, One Bedroom

Hi.

I am booking GFVs, one bedroom, for October 5-9 and wanted Standard View, although I have points for LV, I really LOVE to watch the monorail go by in the SV rooms (moving resorts then Oct. 9-16).

Yesterday the dates were available for both SV and LV. I should have just booked and walked but I didn't and decided to do it today.

When I went on today to book October 3-9 (and then will just modify), October 8 is not available in SV. I booked October 3-8 and stalking October 8-9 in SV.

However, I can get the full days for LV and the extra points I have that I will not use after modifying will go back to my UY and I'm booking a 7 night stay and can use those points for October 9-16.

If I am requesting ground floor, maybe I won't see the monorail anyway (we are bringing my 14 month old grandson for the first time) so does it even matter?

With the new sale of GFV points, do you think it will be hard for me to get that last night 7-0 months out for a one bedroom standard view with new GF owners booking? I'm not sure if I should change to a view I really don't want for the increase in points and have my booking, or take my chance and see if that one night shows up with a WL and stalking.

Booking starts for the new VGF2 studios on 3/14 for existing VGF owners and members who buy VGF in the next 10 days. Maybe some of them are current VGF owners who really wanted a studio and they will switch.

But my gut tells me that there are quite a few of those new owners who will also be looking to reserve 1BR villas and those owners will be able to book their 1BR villas for October as soon as their paperwork has been completed and their 2022 points have been added to their memberships. They won't have to wait until 3/14. Since 10/8 has already been booked up, they will have to create a wait list for that night but they will be ahead of you since you cannot waitlist that night until 3/8.

It's a gamble. Do you feel lucky or do you want to play it safe?

I do not know what I want to do LOL but you gave me a ton of good information. I did create a WL right now. I WL October 3-9 and have it canceling my existing ressie of 3-8. I was going to do the same thing every day as I modified.

What you say sounds like I should just book the LV.

Right now, after I booked the stay, October 7, October 8 and October 9 are not available. The full week before and after is available. I wonder if this means anything cryptic other than F&W. LOL

I'm doing my automatic refresh and LV keeps shoving itself in my face to take it.

I figured out my points and what I want to do in January/February, which would still have me booking with my borrowed 50% 2023. I am going to keep the 1 bedroom SV and stalk that one night that I need. I want to have enough points to book where I want in January or February and not have to cut my trip short. The point difference between Standard vs Lake View is 34 points, which in January could be two extra days.

Marrionette, just wanted to come back and say I got it!

October 8-9 standard one bedroom kept appearing and disappearing when I went to book.

Finally got it! October 5-9 in one bedroom standard view at GFVs and then will hopefully stalk and piece day by day BWVs for October 9-16 in PG studio. Will be difficult but Im fairly optimistic with my stalking skills lol.

What also makes me happy is I use my 2009 SSR resale points that were $67 a point to book! Love DVC!
