We are planning a trip in October '05. We are thinking about October 8 - 14. How bad are the crowds the week of Columbus Day? We would like to hit a halloween party. How early in the month do the parties start? Does anyone remember dates for the party from this year? Thanks!

We went to WDW for the first time Sept. 30 through October 8th, 2003... It was pretty nice and slow in the mornings, but as it got closer to the day we left, it did seem to get more crowded. But at that time, they were having the press all there for the official openings of Philharmagic, and Mission Space. (as well as the FTP going on, so I think that made it more crowded than usual too.) So I think with the press events and the openings it made it more crowded. Not sure about the Columbus Day weekend crowds because we were all done by that time :) I did hear it was more crowded than the beginning of October though. Also it seems to me that the MNSSHP begins the beginning of October. For that year, 2003 it began on October 3rd (probably the first Friday in the month) and went until Halloween night.

We were there Oct. 7-12, 04 (over Columbus Day weekend) and thought the crowds weren't too bad at all. We were use to going Presidents week and the week of Thanksgiving so the crowds in Oct. were very manageable. We never used a fastpass and walked on some rides with very little wait for others. The World showcase did get very crowded towards evening. The food and wine festival was going on then. We thought it was a great time of the year to go.

Bowen we are going around the same time you are going Oct. 13th through the 16th. We heard that Columbus day weekend is a little more crowded then normal. We were wondering if the parks are going to be more crowded on the weekend of the 8th or the weekend of the 15th? We have already made our reservations at the Poly. wooohooo!!! can not wait!!!
