October Crowds

We originally had October booked and had to move up our trip but what’s odd is I’m seeing low crowds on crowd calendars for our dates 10/10-10/14. I know crowd calendars aren’t exact by ANY means but 4/10 seems really off.

DD10 and I will be staying onsite from Oct. 22-26. One thread tells us it'll late October will host lower crowds, the next tells us it's busy and crowded. October is one of the only real times we could get away, so we'll be there, regardless if it's a 4/10 or 10/10 on the calendar scale. We'll a plan, adjust it as needed, when we're there, and focus on relaxing and having fun. ::MickeyMo

I think it's manageable with a good plan but agree I've seen the crowds grow over the years. You couldn't pay me to attend in summer with that heat, no way! :crazy2:
I agree! I know that many with school aged kids don't have many other alternatives, we were in that category for years. It is nice to get past that though and be able to travel in October.:thumbsup2 CAN'T WAIT!:drinking1:dancer:

We've been at various times of year and there's not been one standout time that felt significantly less busy than others. Instead of choosing when to go based on crowds, we first choose when to go based on weather. We were there in late February and weather was fabulous, and we'll be there again in late October.

I checked some of the older threads for past years and did notice a lull period around your time period

Quite possibly you might have less crowds for some of your dates

Locals and decent weather will bring more into the parks and run your numbers up a notch for attendance

I hope you will enjoy that time and that the parks will be light for your trip!

We still need to see the updates from Disney and they are starting to trickle in. DAH have been added to the Itinerary thread and includes a link which has all the dates. To help you better plan here's the link:

My disney trip ends Sept 30 and from what i have seen, its not going to be crowds free....

Too late to change my dates

We are now in that category, stinks! DS will be in 9th grade this fall and his finals are during our regular travel days which is the last week in October *sigh* So instead of WDW heat & humidity we'll be traveling to DL. I'll be traveling solo to attend MNSSHP on Oct 30th which also happens to be my birthday. Looking forward to having a Halloween party on my actual birthday! And I don't have to clean up the mess afterwards

I'm sure some of us have attended low to moderate crowds albeit back in the day, with population booming what can we expect to see in the future? What is Disney's current policy on park closures due to them reaching park capacity? I would be more inclined to stay at a WDW resort provided we have guaranteed park entrance.

I think they could definitely bring down the numbers of guests they let in, but then I think the ticket prices would have to go up to accommodate that.

I always stay onsite at disney so I won't be locked out of a park

But is that WDW official policy? Last year when Pandora opened at AK, the park was shut down due to it reaching park capacity. There were two lines created by the CM's, Right Side - Resort Guests, Left Side - others... so even if you stayed at a Disney owned resort you could not enter until other guests left the park. This was posted on the News & Rumors thread by many. At this point it clearly demonstrated Resort Guest did NOT receive preferential treatment prior to the park closure.

We too stay at the resort when traveling.

Not a problem for me if a park is at capacity and no allowing anyone to enter.

I just get the bus and go to a park that still allows guests in.

I'm there regularly so not a big deal or problem if one of the parks are not allowing any more guests in

I have fun in all of their parks.

Disney will have something open where I can spend time

FUN!! We share the same bday, OCt 30th! NEVER been away on my bday! Thought It Would Be FUN This year. ENJOY and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!:bday::cake:

We have gone during October and did a MNSSHP on Haloween and the crowds were fine. It can be hot, especially in the earlier part of October.
We are going late October this year as well. Great decorations at MK and Food & Wine!

So true!

I started going Columbus Day period probably back in 2009 or 2010

Each year I see that time period growing.....

There are some days before and after that weekend that still have a limited crowd.
Usually the Tuesday after that weekend is low crowds or it has been for me based on which park I am in that day.

We will be down for Columbus Day week ourselves - arriving Sat 6th thru Fri 12th. Planning on Epcot on Columbus Day & MNSSP on Tuesday. Planning for HS our last day in hopes of a fairly early Slinky Dog FP. *fingers crossed*

Double fun!!! Happy Birthday To You too! :bday: are you going to MNSSHP on Oct 30th? Disney is throwing us a party, can't miss that! No dishes to wash, house to clean or food to make - easiest birthday party EVER!!! :rotfl:

And what about your fFP's and ADR's?

That’s good to hear, we’re going October 20-27 this year and this is our first fall trip. We’re staying at the Poly and plan on rope dropping and taking breaks midday. I know there’s no real “slow” time anymore, but this is reassuring!
That is the week we went this past year and we stayed at Poly. We had a FABULOUS time! MK on non-party nights were insane, but rope drop at MK on a party day was a DREAM. The convenience of Poly + a park hopper + rope dropping = one fabulous vacation for us!!
