October Crowds

We are planning a trip in mid-October during F&WF...should we expect large crowds?

And by mid October you mean????? Remember alot of schools have fall break in October.... We were there Oct 10th thru 17th.... Terrible crowds, I was like, what's with these massive crowds.... Then we sarted asking people and they informed us of fall school breaks... We were unaware of such vacations since we come from Massachusetts we have Christmas, February and April vacations..... No matter what, you will be in WDW.... how bad can that be..... Have a great vacation!

My DW and I were at WDW the last 2 weeks of Oct last year. I would call the crowd size moderate with larger crowds on the weekends because of the F&WF.

I have heard from many that October 2006 during Columbus day week and weekends is terribly crowded. My DD has fall break that week, LOL. That is the only time we can go. Also with F&W and MNSSHP going on it will be busy. I'm used to November and September crowd wise and not looking forward to the crowds at all. If I hadn't bought MNSSHP tickets already I would switch to November.

I agree the Colombus Day weekend will be horrible and probably the worse of the entire month--and is one of the few times the MNSSHP will see out other than the end of the month. (granted if there are no hurricanes to speak of). The rest of October will see moderate crowds during the week and very crowded on the weekends, esp. at EPCOT during food and wine. This is a favorite of the locals and cast members, so the crowds swell starting Friday evening into Sunday. You will see this by the lines at the country kiosks. October tends to run along the same crowd levels as May (not counting Mem. Day weekend).

What about the week before the holiday? We are going Sept 28 - Oct 7. How's it going to be. The only other time we went was July 6-8. It was crowded but still manageable. Maybe because it rained all day, every day.

I've been in October specifically, the last 2 to 2 1/2 weeks of the month. I would call crowds during those weeks a 6 out of 10 during peak hours. As others have already posted the weekends do get crowded; espicially at EPCOT with locals visiting for F&W.

We were there 2 years ago the last full week of October and it was fantastic!! Never more than a 20-minute wait and a lot of times we were able to just walk on rides (Haunted Mansion) or ride a ride twice without getting off.

It will be very busy from Friday the 4th until the next Sunday. Some schools have fall break the first week of October but most of them have fall break Columbus week. The last week of the month is not crowded at all. It's mostly the weekend before and after Columbus day. Many others just take their kids out of school the rest of that week since they have a day off. October used to be a slower month, but not the last year or two.
