I am planning a trip to DL mid October of this year. Can anyone tell me what the crowds and weather is like that time of year? We are planning a Mon. - Sat. trip. Thanks for all your help.

Usually October is a great time to go for low crowds. This year was different because of the new Halloween themed parties and decorations. It was packed when we went when usually it would have been dead. Saying that it was a ton of fun to see all the Halloween decorations. They have the party at DCA on select nights too that I heard was fun. We weren't there during that time though. It was done really well. It was such a great success I cant imagine them not doing it next year. We had a great time. It might have been more crowded since this was the first year they did this there but I imagine attendance will be up next year too. Still fun to go crowded or not and the weather is awesome. If you are there for that length of time it should be fine since it will be midweek mostly. Have fun!

We were there the third weekend in October this year. Stayed friday through Tuesday. Firday night, Saturday and Sunday were very very very busy. Monday was much less busy. We went to the party at DCA, Mickey's Halloween Treat on Sunday night and had a great time, you may want to try and get tickets for this event if it is offered before you go. You must get tickets in advance as they sell out. I think they started the parties about the 13th of October last year.

When we were there they were having unusally warm weather, close to 80 each day, which is not typical for that time of year.

We were there Oct 21 - 26 this last year.

It was fairly busy due to the fact that many schools have fall break during this time of year, and also because of the Halloween party at DCA and all the new Halloween decor in the parks this last year.

However, even though it was busy in the parks and the lines looked VERY long, the wait times were incredibly fast. We usually only stood in line for about 10 minutes, and that was in the regular standby line. They were loading and unloading the rides very effeciently, and therefore the crowds were no problem. It was our best trip to DL ever!:cool1:

The weather that time of year is usually comfortable and warm during the day, but it can get a little chilly in the evenings. This last October when we were there it was HOT, hovering around 90 degrees during our whole trip, but that's unusual. Temps between 75-80 is more the norm I think.

We'd definately go again in October - it's a great time to visit!:thumbsup2

Your plan is perfect. Monday thru Thurs will be slower days and you should be able to easily get LOTS & LOTS done. You'll be able to ride to your hearts content! Then, by the time Fri & Sat roll around, along with more crowds, you can slow down a bit, sleep in, do some shopping in DTD, go swimming, maybe watch a show in one of the parks that you haven't seen yet, and stake out a great spot for watching the fireworks. Have a GREAT TIME!

We were there during the first week of this past Oct. It was a Tues/Wed trip. The crowds were great. A little more crowded on Tues. but we still never waited more than 20 min. for anything. Wed was even better. I think Oct. is a pretty good month for low crowds, although the park hours are shorter and there isn't as much "entertainment" scheduled.

I have been at DL during the second week of October for the last 3 years and have seen the crowds increase dramatically the last two years due to the 50th and the big Halloween push of last year.

2006 was busier than 2005 and way busier than 2004.

Thanks for all your responses. Now I have another questions. Does anyone remember park hours for that time of year? It will probably be the third week of October, so we won't hit Columbus day crowds. Thanks again for all your help.

We were there Oct. 16th-25th and the hours were 10-8 during the week and 8-12 on the weekends.
