apologies for another question :goodvibes we are looking to book October 2010, I've definitely decided on October rather than December. Anyhow, in terms of which weeks, what would you recommend ? First two weeks, middle two, last two, or last week in October/first in November. We have never visited WDW so I have no idea about crowd levels, weather, etc I'm guessing Halloween night itself could be rather busy and then I've read about Columbus weekend (?) but I'm not sure about what impact these dates would have on our holiday. Any advice before I finally book would be great, thank you :)

Price wise the first two eeks would be cheaper for the flights protion of the holiday as that is no-where near the main half term break in the UK. Also if staying at WDW may be able to get in on the last few days of free dining if it is offered again.

Claire ;)

We always go the first 2 weeks (before half term). The weather is still great with not too much rain and the parks are full but not overly so. Queues for rides are OK also. There is an American bank holiday during the first two weeks (can't remember the date) so we don't go to any of the parks on that day. Otherwise its a fantastic time to go!

Hiya

We are going this year last week in Oct and first in Nov which means we get to do MNSSHP and also the first MVMCP too, just before we fly home.
Which is really exciting. :thumbsup2

We usually go at Easter, so this will be a new time for us to try.

I didn't realise MVMCP was as early as the first week in November. I was originally torn between October or December so that date combination could be the best of both worlds :goodvibes Do you mind me asking, how much cost you think the half term holiday added to your flight price ? thankyou x

Tillybud it looks like Free Dining for 2010 will be open up till stays ending on 18th Nov if that influences you? Must be booked by 31st Dec this year. Columbus day is the nearest weekend to the 12th oct & is a Federal holiday, crowd wise busier over the weekend but ok during the week. Oct is also the Food & wine festival at Epcot so it's busier there than normal,in the past prices have had a major hike at half term & it gets busy but with the current recession & the fact that Disney are extending Free dining past the end of Sept it is hard to tell.
We have been during the first 2 weeks of Oct & found the weather more settled than Sept, still hot but not as much humidity & crowd levels just starting to get busier (we're Sept people!) the closer you get to half term.
SD:thumbsup2

I would go the middle two weeks, as it will get busier with the school hols and like someone else has said the price for flights will go up. Also the later you go the cooler it gets in the morning. One year we went from 11/10 until 02/11 and it was very cool for the last week, I needed my fleece and jeans, but I do easily feel the cold. It got hot around 11.00 in the morning. Our first two weeks were fine and it was really hot, but not the horrible heat you have in August over there.

We'll be there for Columbus Day this year.. (11th-18th) I didn't realise this when I booked but the bf has had his holiday dates booked for months now and there's no chance of changing them (it was hard enough getting over 2 weeks in one go!) However, i've heard it's one of the better US public holidays crowdwise and i've gone during peak summer time so I figure it can't be worse than that! I have subscribed to Tourguide Mike this time.. I've heard great things about his plans working well on busy days so hopefully it'll be true for us :goodvibes

Hiya

Half term here in Bristol is 10 days, so we are leaving on the 28th (half way through first week) so we get a week in UK school hols and one week out. I would usually do the same booking at Easter time.

Our flights were roughly £380 each, but we left them late to book and we are trying to up grade on miles too.

We just catch the first MVMCP on 10th Nov before we leave!

Hi there,

We're thinking of this Oct/ Nov and the idea of seeing both Mickey do's sound great. I'm waiting on flight price sales if any in May before i book? We're totally flexible on dates so it wouldn't matter when. Should we go later in November to avoid crowds?

Been to EPCOT on Columbus day 2005 and 2006, get everything that has queues done handy then take the pressure off in the afternoon when it gets busy. We had no problems both times.

We are going 12 Oct this year, first time in oct and looking forward to it. It won't be as hot as JUne - the last time we went in 2008. I'm hoping the parks and queues of universal - giving WDW a miss - won't be too bad. We have decided to get pool heat though, after I asked on here what peoples opinions were. MY DS will be out of school for two weeks but he's only in year 1 then, so I'm not too bothered about him losing the schooling. I think we'll be fine, so I wouldn't worry about it if i were you

I have been late October/early November before - weather was still nice, maybe a little cool early in the morning, but still swimming weather.

We thought it was a great time to go - parks were so quiet that we rode Big Thunder Mountain five times in a row one morning with no wait. We expected flights to be more expensive then because of half term, but if you're travelling back a few days after the end of half term, they're cheaper.

They were starting to put Christmas decorations up then, so you'd still get to see them - not sure what dates things like the Osborne lights start though.

Free dining is available at that time next year too, on the Disney UK site.
