October 7, 2006 Western "Latitude Adjustment Cruise"

No "Konk" Coolers at the pool. :sad2: Alan nixed that location because of that very reason right after I posted :drinking1 ....and in July it will be way too hot, anyway. :sunny:

July 9th will be too late, though, because that is the ressie date for Castaway Club members. We need to plan before that.:chat:

BTW, we will be at Ron Jon Cape Caribe Resort the night before the cruise pretty much for sure at this point. :woohoo:

Well, if you're gonna be picky, it's Konk Kooler!! :teeth: Way to go Alan! :thumbsup2 I didn't think we could have beverages at the pool. Anytime after June 11 we can work with. Going to Gulf Shores this weekend for a few days (I will be refining my Konk Kooler making skills while there :drinking1). then the Busch race, Federated Auto Parts 300, Saturday the 10th.

I have been reading my PassPorter 4th Edition and making some plans....

Does anyone know what excursions :moped: (Disney or otherwise) they may take on the islands?

We have our flights booked, are planning to pay in full soon, and are thinking of when to try to book reservations.

Greetings from Fort Morgan, Alabama. No we haven't tried the Konk Koolers yet, but lookout Monday! :drinking1 The water is dead calm and there is very little humidity!! We are thinking of doing just the island tours on Cozumel and Grand Cayman. Do a little shopping at the docks and get back to quiet time on the ship.

I am in receipt of a photo message on my cell phone that would indicate that the the Konk Coolers have indeed been located and engaged in vigorous fashion...

You got that right! :rotfl2: And we have decided that in the abscence of Palo, that Café Grazie will make a suitable stand-in. Excellent Italian Seafood! :thumbsup2

Last year I booked a family cruise to Alaska for 7/01/06 Cost like 30K with flights and excursions. Decided insurance was too expensive. Two days ago my right knee blew up got an appt with ortho doc and had MRI last night. Who would have thought. I'll go even if in a wheel chair. I think I've learned a lesson. Worse case I'll send the kids & gk's but I've been looking forward to this cruise for a long time. :sad2:

We are sorry to hear about your knee! That's a bummer. :sad2:

We were just discussing insurance this week. Checking into it.

Jamie

So sorry to hear about your knee. :sad2:

This is the first cruise that we took the insurance. Only took it because of the time of year. We took our insurance with Disney. :sunny:

We're not going with Disney insurance because we've already booked our flights ourselves and they won't cover any missed flights not booked through them....

the jury's still out on who we will choose....

Jamie

We booked our flights on our own also. I wasn't to worried about the flights until today with Alberto raising its ugly head in Florida. We have a day on each side of the cruise if we have to move things around. Not so concerned about getting home as getting to Florida. Work can wait! :surfweb: Now I think I will go check into flight insurance. Any suggestions??? :confused3 :confused3

Did I see that July 9th is the date for castaway members to make ressies? ooooh, YEAH! This is our first 7 day, do ya'll think two Palo brunches plus a dinner plus tea is too much Palo? Seriously, what's everyone booking? What night for Palo? I was thinking Tuesday: we can see Grand Cayman in the am, do a matinee of Twice Charmed, have early dinner at Palo and then still sit with my parents and kids at dinner.

Do you think there will be any reservations left at Palo for us "first timers"??? :sad2: :sad2:

I think that is 90 days out, so it would be a go if you are paid in full! We are paid, :surfweb: so see you online at 2:00 am on the 9th! :teeth: There is talk of a planning party here. (I have the Konk Koolers ready :drinking1 )We are trying to decide on a date and time for Palo. If everyone in our local group went to Palo together, we would have about half the restaurant.

From other threads I have read on the Forums boards, they only allow about half of the Palo reservations to book online. Get on the ship, make Palo ressies first and you will be fine. :thumbsup2

We called DCL a few days ago to confirm some things - glad we did, they had us with early seating & our dinner partners with late seating and they put us together. They let us make a request for dinner time (5:30, 5:45, 6:00, or whatever the times are for early....) but no promises.

When we asked about the online reservations, we were told we could only make Palo reservations for the number of adults booked in our stateroom (2). I've heard before of others making reservations for 4 and another stateroom making reservations for 4 and therefore going twice to dinner.

We'll still try to book for 4, but who knows. :confused3

Carolyn would like to get together the first weekend of July. How does that suit everyone here in TN? Guess I need to ask Val....she said we could meet at her house possibly....

I don't think Alan has gone with an insurance group yet. He will have to do it soon, though!!!

Jamie (who mowed 4 acres today :sunny:  :sunny: )

Less than 16 weeks / 110 days until it's our turn!!! party: :jumping1:

Been a long time since last post. Had an MRI of the left knee and do have a torn Miniscus (spelling) Too close to Alaska to chance an operation, because I'm walking funny I pulled a muscle in the back. But I've been in a whirl pool plus heating pad for a week and it's improving. Don't really expect to do more than sit on the verandah and look at the scenery. Thursday is the DW's last day of school. So officially one month more of wore before retirement city. Can't believe it's finally here, where have all the years(flowers) gone? Looking back makes you realize how bogus everything is except family. The time and the memories shared, that's what is important to leave behind. Almost the two digit dance. :Pinkbounc

Take care of the knee. Plenty to see from your verandah in Alaska and plenty of time between Alaska and DCL to repair the knee. We did a 2 week Princess Alaska cruise-tour in '99. 3 nights in Anchorage, train to Mt. McKinley for 1 night, train to Fairbanks for 2 nights, fly back to Anchorage and bus to Seward for 7 night cruise to Vancouver. Some of the most spectacular scenery I have ever seen. Here are a few pics. They don't do it justice. (35mm scanned and some low res digital) You will enjoy your trip! :thumbsup2
