My DH and I, who are the parents of a 28 yo CM on the Magic, - so I think we're at least your age are thinking about theany ideas for 2 folks who are old enough to have grown kids to do on Cozumel?
As my DD says, it's not a vacation for me until I'm away from civilization - preferably on a trail somewhere. Two miles isn't too bad and the schedule says it's over by 2:45 so we'll still have time to do something in the afternoon if we want.Jungle Hike Expedition (CZ-30)
Journey into the heart of the jungle! Enjoy a 30-minute bus ride to the hiking station where you will receive an adventure backpack complete with binoculars, compass, granola bar, bottled water and an explorer booklet. After a brief orientation, explore approximately two miles of lush tropical terrain alongside your guide. Along the way, visit several partially excavated Mayan ruins and learn all about the age-old civilization. Finally, relax with a 30-minute bus ride back to your ship.
Hey Joanne, My DH and I, who are the parents of a 28 yo CM on the Magic, - so I think we're at least your age are thinking about the As my DD says, it's not a vacation for me until I'm away from civilization - preferably on a trail somewhere. We're definitely not your "buff and beautiful" Mr. & Mrs America but a walk in the jungle sounds like fun since DH really isn't into beach and swimming. Last cruise he humored me and sat in a beach chair and read a book while I floated down the beach at Serenity Bay. Of course, I got sunburned and he didn't.
The Magic has two trips to Cozumel before we get there so we aren't going to book till we're on the ship and have a chance to check with DD about the reviews for the excursion.
We're also planning on Kayaking in Key West and possibly the Nature Walk and Kayaking at Castaway. That one's in the morning so I'll have all afternoon to cook on the beach in Serenity Bay! Last time the float rubbed the sunscreen off in a striped pattern so I had a striped sunburn on my legs!
We're thinking the more active excursions will let us EAT MORE and still fit our clothes.
Hope this helps. There are a lot of younger couples on the cruise - including our DS and DDIL but you're only as young as you feel and I'm not nearly ready to sit on the porch and rock!![]()
Just a random question, but am I the only one who checks out the menus for each night of the cruise planning what to eat?? (I just had to reevaluate my choices after losing a few lbs, and I really, really don't want them back!)
Tell your DH that the Jungle hike has a 30 minute bus trip each way so he can rest then. It would be fun to have friends to go with.
One thing you probably want to do the first night is tell your servers that you NEVER clean your plate and that leaving food on your plate doesn't mean you didn't like the food. I also made a point of eating appetizers and/or salad so I wasn't as hungry when the entree got there. BTW, our servers were STILL worried that I didn't like stuff. I did however eat EVERY BITE of my steak in Palo. MMMMM, and I'm a Texas steak snob.
