**@@** October 6th, 2007 Magic**@@**

Hey Joanne,
any ideas for 2 folks who are old enough to have grown kids to do on Cozumel?
My DH and I, who are the parents of a 28 yo CM on the Magic, - so I think we're at least your age are thinking about the
Jungle Hike Expedition (CZ-30)
Journey into the heart of the jungle! Enjoy a 30-minute bus ride to the hiking station where you will receive an adventure backpack complete with binoculars, compass, granola bar, bottled water and an explorer booklet. After a brief orientation, explore approximately two miles of lush tropical terrain alongside your guide. Along the way, visit several partially excavated Mayan ruins and learn all about the age-old civilization. Finally, relax with a 30-minute bus ride back to your ship.
As my DD says, it's not a vacation for me until I'm away from civilization - preferably on a trail somewhere. Two miles isn't too bad and the schedule says it's over by 2:45 so we'll still have time to do something in the afternoon if we want.

We're definitely not your "buff and beautiful" Mr. & Mrs America but a walk in the jungle sounds like fun since DH really isn't into beach and swimming. Last cruise he humored me and sat in a beach chair and read a book while I floated down the beach at Serenity Bay. Of course, I got sunburned and he didn't.

The Magic has two trips to Cozumel before we get there so we aren't going to book till we're on the ship and have a chance to check with DD about the reviews for the excursion.

We're also planning on Kayaking in Key West and possibly the Nature Walk and Kayaking at Castaway. That one's in the morning so I'll have all afternoon to cook on the beach in Serenity Bay! Last time the float rubbed the sunscreen off in a striped pattern so I had a striped sunburn on my legs!

We're thinking the more active excursions will let us EAT MORE and still fit our clothes.

Hope this helps. There are a lot of younger couples on the cruise - including our DS and DDIL but you're only as young as you feel and I'm not nearly ready to sit on the porch and rock!

I keep looking at our ressie to see if we get a room #- but nothing so far...and how can you get moved up on your dining?? I thought you had to wait until on the ship to make those changes?
We have two staterooms..ours is main seating and my DM and DGM are late--we want to match them up--- :confused3

Thanks for the info, CM_Mom. I've been trying to talk DH into something a little more interesting than we usually do, but he's a hard sell. I'd go for that jungle walk in a heartbeat, but DH is more like that guy in the commercial who just keeps finding new places to sleep on the ship! Oh, well. Lucky for me he's so lovable otherwise.

I think we'll take a page from your book and check on what's available when we get on board ship.

OMG, the cruise is only a month away!!!!!! :yay:

Just a random question, but am I the only one who checks out the menus for each night of the cruise planning what to eat?? (I just had to reevaluate my choices after losing a few lbs, and I really, really don't want them back!)

Oh yes! That would be me! I might even see if I can get the butternut squash soup each night it's offered. And my plan is to take the stairs as much as we can.

I can't believe it's a month away. A MONTH!! 554 days ago I booked this sucker. I might just have to start packing. :thumbsup2

Sorry guys, I haven't looked at the menus ahead of time. I'd be the one who plans everything out and then they changed it on me. Besides, who knows I'm gonna be in the mood for each night.

BoosGram...I'm 15 pounds lighter than when we cruised before so I know I'll be watching what I eat. That's one of the reasons for the "more active" excursions. My DH tried to imitate the guy who sleeps on the commercial also on our last cruise. I think he had a nap EVERY afternoon and was often in bed before DD or me. She wasn't working and was on vacation with us so she and I could hang out together while he slept. This trip, she's going to be working and she has a husband so she won't have as much time to "hang out" with her mom. DH is stuck with me. But he's lost 50 pounds since our last cruise and I think he has more energy.

Tell your DH that the Jungle hike has a 30 minute bus trip each way so he can rest then. It would be fun to have friends to go with.

One thing you probably want to do the first night is tell your servers that you NEVER clean your plate and that leaving food on your plate doesn't mean you didn't like the food. I also made a point of eating appetizers and/or salad so I wasn't as hungry when the entree got there. BTW, our servers were STILL worried that I didn't like stuff. I did however eat EVERY BITE of my steak in Palo. MMMMM, and I'm a Texas steak snob.

For those of you with younger kids, did you know they have MICKEY shaped Ravioli :earsboy: on the kids menu? DD ordered some on our last cruise. Sometimes she's just a big kid anyway.

30 DAYS from NOW, I'll be asleep at the Comfort Inn in Port Canaveral...if I'm not too exicted to sleep!

I agree! I'm working on him!

Good info, thanks. (I could actually see myself eating salads and appetizers and calling it a day. Okay, and maybe some dessert.) And Palo, mmmmmmmmmm. That's what I'm talkin' about....saving most of my calorie input for Palo! :goodvibes

I think on our 3 day cruise I had one of each salad and appetizers, then barely touched my entrees! And only one night I had room for desert!

I read that one person the the 9/29 cruise GTY got their cabin assignments, so that means our gang should be really soon! Sending pixie dust for great upgrades for you all!

OH, PLEASE>>>send pixie dust our way too please for upgrades.. :wizard:

Would so love to have a porthole or ..shall I say it? VERANDAH!! WOOT! :woohoo:

We are doing this cruise only through a budget plan so we had to go lowest category. Just have to make cuts whenever possible. :cloud9:

Tons of pixie dust and good vibes going to our GTY cruisers. May you all get fabulous upgrades!!!:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I am beyond excited and soooooo ready to pull out the luggage! I went to dinner at PrincessBTS's mom's house on Sunday and I think everyone thought we were crazy with all our planning and excitement! I think they are the crazy ones for not being excited or planning at all! :yay:

WOOT WOOT I got our return ME vouchers today! We are using ME after the cruise, to go from VWL to the airport! WOOT WOOT!

:cheer2:  :cheer2:  :cheer2:

I've been checking my GTY12 - no room assignment yet!

It still says Category 15...guarantee. No, I'm not hallucinating. That's the category assigned for the crew (very small) family discount. DD requested the rooms we have listed on page one but won't know "for sure" probably till we get on the ship. Not to worry, we're just glad to go.

We asked for the sideways Cat 11 rooms. That's what we were in last time and they seemed more spacious than the regular Cat 11 that my mom and aunt had. I think it's just a more open layout since the door is in the middle of the room instead of at one end. You enter in the "living area" with the bathroom/closet area on one side and the bedroom area on the other.

Off to heat up dinner and then work on a chair I'm reupholstering. NO work-work tonight - yipee! I'm tired of being on the computer till 2:00 AM trying to get servers working right.

It is better to give than receive so I am giving lots of pixiedust: :jumping1:  :dance3: :goodvibes to all the GTY's for upgrades!

I am so scatterbrained right now...! Been so focused on everything going on around here and making sure i have everything for the cruise.. I had to talk to DD's school for her first cruise and for her surgery and for her second cruise..that I totally forgot to talk to DS school for him...SHEESH! How dunceheaded can you be? I fired off emails today and should be well within the time limit for vacations but I feel like ...like...a blonde! :sad2: And I am a definite brunette! Proves we all have blonde roots at times! :lmao: :lmao: :rolleyes1 **No offense meant to all you blondes out there**

Good evening everyone. We are starting to get SUPER psyched about the trip, and starting to mentally prepare everything.

Has anyone been able to receive the flight information yet ? I thought that is would be available on the 30 day window, which should be today, or is it that it will become available "WITHIN" 30 days ?

I have not been able to hang out here much, but really look forward to seeing some of you.

Thanks Andy, I can rest a little now.

I have been waiting to get my seat assignment, since its my first trip on a plane, and I am 6' 3", with messed up knees. I am worried that I will be seated like the Southwest commercial where the seats are so small, and the backs of the seat are pretty much between your legs.
