October 5, 2008 Wonder Cruise!

Anyone else annoyed by the on/off/on/off trip planning at Disney?

My kids are going to be so sad.

How can they do that to us? Disney giveth and Disney taketh away!
Have a safe trip everyone. We are on our way to the airport now. I love my iPhone!

Ok, it’s 1:06pm and we will be leaving for the airport in half an hour. We have a 3:30 flight out of Westchester. It's great; the airport is only 10 minutes away. The weather is beautiful and we're looking forward to see'n everyone.

We hope everyone has a safe flight down to Orlando... See ya real soon!

We arrived at MCO around 4:30 PM and stayed at the Hyatt. We went to Chili's for dinner and it wasn't good at all! Can't wait to get on the ship and eat good food.

Kate made FEs for both of us and they came out really nice! I can't wait to get on board! We are going to try and get one of the earliest shuttles to the Port

I am glad we brought the wheelchair! It is going to make my life as well as everyone in my group's life easier because I can't walk far or fast! See everyone real soon. Annmarie

PS - thank goodness for my iPhone! I forgot to print off the FE list. Thanks so much to GAMomof2 for pttimg this together for us. I'm emailing myself the post so I'll have the list.

to the sail away party so didn't get a chance to meet most of you. We had a great time on this cruise and are so happy we were able to have our best and closest friends (family) with us. Although I was in the wheelchair for mostof this trip I/we made the best of it. Our servers (Galina & Shannon) were excellent! Food in every resaurant was great! I did get a very bad sunburn while at CC the first day because I fell asleep on a float for over an hour and the suncreen I used didn't work! I'm still in pain today.
Thank goodness DH helped with the FE gifts on Wednesday because I never could have done it myself!

Hope everyone else had as good a time as we did!

we made it back in around 4pm today. after picking up both dogs of course. Loved doing the FE's. Plus DVC put magnets on our doors. The girls really enjoyed the extra excitement. We were able to do the Palo brunch and Dinner on the Nassau night. We had the same server both times and he was great. Our dinner team (Januar and James) were great. Also saw our server from our member cruise. It was a little bumpy that last night but pretty much slept through it.

We rebooked this morning for a 7 night Western in September 2009. It's the week after the member cruise. Just us two, the girls are staying home. So I guess I need to hunt down that thread too.

Loved meeting everyone that first day. Would love to get a copy of the picture that was taken.

Hope everyone else is arriving home safe or enjoying their detour trip.

Hey everyone! We made it back to the West Coast yesterday at about 9pm Florida time. I can't believe how long it takes when you are returning home, rather then going on vacation! We had a lot of fun. We got Palo Brunch and Palo Dinner, although I think in the future I would just do the Brunch. It was yummy. Lots of pictures with characters, but not a lot of sleep :) Thank goodness we have the weekend now. Does anyone swear they still feel the boat rock? ;)

Hi everyone!

So, is my dh the only one who didn't really enjoy the cruise at times?? :( I guess it just wasn't his thing. He did really enjoy the shows, but said other than that, he'd just rather go to WDW. We're actually at WDW now, so he can have the best of both worlds.

My girls and I had a blast, though. I got to do some Karaoke, participate in the "A Pirate's Life for Me" game show as one of the captains, won some stuff at the DVC presentation, bike, float, and snorkel. We were all dressed up for Pirate night which made that evening more fun.

Our servers were Sunil and Clement. They were excellent and very helpful l change his mind about it someday. Or...maybe I'll take the girls on my own with the girls. We ate way too much, but enjoyed the food. We even tried a few new things.

Thanks for the FE gifts. That was a fun addition to our cruise.

This may have been our first and last cruise...but who knows...maybe dh wil.;)

I'll get the meet photo from dh tomorrow. It's getting late.

lora - saw the picture. looks great. it just won't let me download it. could u email me one directly? thanks.

What a great cruise!! We had the best time ever. I would go again tomorrow, although I am glad we didn't leave Thursday as the weather looked pretty bad. My kids just loved it. Jess made some good friends this trip and that made her trip great! She had her first taste of freedom to come and go as she pleases, and just loved it. The cruise line was great with Matt. Apparently since Matt was the only boy on the cruise with Down syndrome, it made him easy to spot. We went to Guest Services when we first got on the ship and the cast member immediately said, " Welcome on board, Matthew and Jessica". Well that just set the tone for the whole cruise. Matt thought it was great that all the cast members knew him. The Make a Wish lady had treats in our room everyday, and on Wednesday, they had a special Meet and Greet with Mickey and Goofy just for the wish kids on the cruise. Looked to be around 20 of them. They took pics of the kids and gave them to us. All of us are ready to go again. Now I just have to figure out how to pay for it. It was great meeting everyone and the kids loved the FE gifts. Jess has the Treasure chest soaking right now. She loved giving them out too. My head still thinks it is on the boat. Wonder how long it will last?

We loved this cruise! I went parasailing on Castaway Cay, and that was amazing! Our serving team, Chintana and Nicole, were wonderful! We had table twenty, first seating, with the rotation of TAAP. I really loved the shows! Castaway Cay was stunning, but Nassau wasn't. I probably ran into ya'll so many times!

Lora- which A Pirates Life for Me were you captain on? and which team?

Lora- which A Pirates Life for Me were you captain on? and which team?

It was between the first dinner seating and the show on Pirate's night in Studio Sea. I was the Captain of the "Jolly Rogers". The other team was "Powder Monkeys".

We never made it up to the meet and greet on Sunday but did participate in the FEs. DH and I spent Day 2 at CC making deliveries to everyone. It was fun to come back to the room every day/night and find something new. We decided to just do it all in one trip since it was dificult with me being in the wheelchair. Thank you to everyone who participated!

I'll let Mom2k4w tell her own trip report but I will let you know that all of us had a great time even though we had a few setbacks.

This was the first time (in 3 cruises) we did not have a navigator's verandah and didn't miss it as much as we thought we would. We had first seating PTTA and our wait staff were Galina and Shannon. Galina was excellent and very accommodating, especially with me. On the first day at CC, Galina saw me walking with my cane and immediately came over and helped me with my food tray. Then she brought over a plate of fresh fruit for me. She definitely went above and beyond and I need to send a note to DCL about her. I would definitely request her again when we cruise.

Due to severe swelling in my legs, I was unable to do as much as I would like to have done. The rest of the group rented bikes and rode out to the tower while I stayed at the family beach. It was a very relaxing day.

Pirate Night: All of us (except DGS-12) got dressed up like pirates and that was fun but I didn't make it to the Pirate Party. I needed to get off my feet and rest but since I had seen it before that was okay by me.

We did get off the ship at Nassau for a short time. DGS stayed on board with the Oceaneers Lab. We walked around (well I was pushed around in my wheelchair by DH) and went to a few stores and really weren't bothered by the locals. We went to Tortuga Rum Cake Company, a few tee shirt tops, Simply Silver for jewelry and were back on board ship for lunch.

DH and I did get into a conversation with Captain Henri about the new ships and he informed us that he will be the Captain of one of the new ships and it will continue to do 3- & 4-night cruises. We are considering renewing our vows in 2010 but the 5-night, 2 trips to CC are much more expensive than this past cruise.

We spent two nights after the cruise at BCV. We were in rooms 427 & 429 (a 2-BR lock-off) and were able to see the Epcot fireworks from our room. That was nice. I do have to post on the DISabilities board because I can not tell you how rude people at WDW were to me because I was in a wheelchair! I was shocked!

Any way, this was fun and hope to see many of you on another cruise.

Annmarie

Sorry it took so long to pop on and say hello!

Cruise was a blast! DH was competely exausted upon arrival to the ship - he promptly fell asleep when we got to the room and didn't want to get up for dinner!
Castaway Cay #1 we did the stingray excursion at 9:30am and it was awesome. Also did Palo brunch this day - it was good, but probably won't do that one again - DH didn't really appreciate it.
Nassau we went horseback riding and Bob got swindled at the Straw Market.
Castaway Day #2 we went on the wave runners right after the storm rolled through and the waves were really rough - but it was AWESOME! I did end up with a bruised tailbone after all this though - that was really painful...but Vanil Stoli and Cokes by the pool and at dinner helped. :teeth: Spent the rest of our last Castaway Cay #2 at the adult beach drinking and soaking up the sun through the clouds.
Our head server was Niti (he was awesome even if one of his tricks backfired on him) and the assistant server was GiGi (her first cruise ever) and we were on second seating with PTTA.

gamomof2 - saw your magnets frequently as we walked by to get an elevator! I think you were only 10+ doors down.

...and just for the heck of it - a wedding pic!
