I wanted to chime in and say hi. We finally booked our trip last week. Can't wait.... We did the 4 day wonder in Aug of 05 and now are doing the 7 day Magic. I am trying to read up and catch up on everything. You can include us in the Web site and stuff. Looks like another from NJ is joining the boat DW, DD (13), DS (12) and DS (8)

Welcome! This is a fun bunch! We have a Monday chat for kids (usually 11and up) and an adult chat on Wednesday. PM Renysmom or Ntheory for info. My DD is 12 and DS 8 as well! lots of kids on this trip, it is going to be a blast!

Yes we are Paid in full. We used DVC points to pay for myself and the two kids as third and fourth in cabin. I paid in full for my wife as the second. We had points that needed to be used and it was cheaper oout of pocket by doing it this way.

Steve

Awesome! We used DVC and paid in full for my daughter, so I'm on the lookout now, too.:banana:

Hi! We got our information in the mail yesterday too. We are not paid in full yet. I was so excited. It makes the trip that more real!

I have a question for all the past cruisers. When do you learn your dining rotation? I want to go to Palo but i don't want to miss AP the first time since they only do the "show" on the first night you go there.

We did not find out until we checked in. The rotation is on your KTTW card. We were not able to get reservations on line last time. We had to do it on the ship. I plan to try to make reservations online, but if it does not work with my rotation, I will change it on board.

Is it easy to change? are there alot of ressies open by the time you arrive at the cruise? I would have to have chosen the wrong night then get then and not be able to change it.

Thanks

I do not know if it is easy to change. We could not get a ressie at all online. But we got to the port early and went straight to Rockin D and got in line. we were able to get reservation for 6. This was during a sold out Christmas cruise. I was told they release some reservations for 90 day days out, some for 75, and then release the rest on the ship.

Maybe someone else has some suggestions?

If you can check a copy of Passporter's DCL book, there's a list of POSSIBLE rotations. It might help make that Palo resv. Also, book any night after the first three, then AP would have already happened. Or if you don't want to miss any of the dining, make a late resv at Palo and eat light on your normal rotation. There's also a brunch during the 7-day cruise you can do at Palo.

I say this, but I still haven't figured out when my wife and I will eat there.:confused3

Alexa will be late on kids chat tonight. She wanted to do another gymnastic lesson before tryouts this week. If she has her homework done afterschool, she should be online by 8:40 and check to see if others are still on.

we have now figured out an FE gift that we will be making by hand. 1 down, 49 to go.

Also, for those who have kids that need passports and both parents work, here is a bit of info that we just found out. BOTH parents need to be present at the passport office (ours is a post office). And of course the hours are like form 9 to 2. Not great for us. But the one by us is open on Friday July 3rd and most people are off that day for the holiday weekend. So, if you are like us, get all your documents in order, and go on that day.

For all you NJer's who want to join us in the pre-cruise meet, please make sure you PM me your e-mail. Our list of families has grown so large that I can not send out PMs for communication any more.

Thanks

My husband and I went individually to our county building for our daughter's passport, to sign the paperwork, when we applied for hers. The lady just kept the paperwork on the side for my husband to sign when he came in after work. It was much easier than coordinating both of us to go down there at the same time for a ten minute process. Hope this helps.

I sent out a group e-mail for the pre cruise meet, and yours bounced back. I would PM you here, but I don't know your disboards name.
Please pm me your e-mail.

If anyone knows Joe R's disboards name, let me know so I can PM him.

Thanks

Cool!!! Can't wait to see what you're doing.

Just FYI ... there is a form that one parent can fill out and sign so that the other parent doesn't have to be present to apply for the passport. It is really meant for non-custodial parents to give consent for a child's passport application. I had my dh fill out one, and I took it one day when I had everything together. Worked great for us. Dh took his stuff in his own time to a place near where he works.

Susan, thanks for that info. I was not told by my office that we could do that.
They did mention that the other parent could get their signature validated by a notary, but it does make things more complex.

We four (2 adults, 2 kids) went and applied for our passports together at our local post office. It took the full 6 weeks to get them issued, but they returned my youngest daughters application (took 6 weeks to do that, too). Passport control said it was not processed properly at the post office. What that means was a mystery to all involved since all 4 apps were processed together. We live in a small town and the clerk at the post office knows me and I don't think he made a mistake. I watched him sign and stamp all four applications so the mystery continues. The clerk at the post office said he's heard story/rumor that Passport control will randomly send back a child's application to confirm it is processed properly (one parent trying to get the child's passport). So, we had to reapply for hers and now are waiting for it; maybe another 6 weeks.

So the moral of the story, get your application in early and make sure all your ducks are in a row and the processing agency dots their I's and crosses their T's.

That's the truth. I forced my dh to get his done *early* to avoid any of that stuff. We didn't have any issues with processing and have all 5 of ours ready and waiting. I wanted to make sure we were safe, though, IF there were issues.
