OCTOBER 30th & NOVEMBER 3rd Cruises (FE and Meets)

Putting the fininshing touches on packing here in Chicago, and as DH is packing his Halloween costume, he turns to me and asks if we're wearing our costumes to dinner. Now of course I'm second guessing wearing them! :confused3

Our costumes are not super elaborate just Halloween t's with accessories (same for the kiddos)

So is anyone else planning on wearing costumes to dinner? We have early seating. We want to be festive, but don't want to feel out of place either!

Can any of you put my mind at ease?

Can't wait to meet you all on Sunday!

We'll be dressed exactly the same way. Halloween T's and such. This will be our second Halloween cruise and most everyone is in costume for dinner.

Quick question... does anyone else in our group homeschool or do virtual school?
Lily is homeschooled out of necessity this year because of her health, her homeschool online teacher is wanting her to do homework while on her MAW trip. I'm a little put off by it. I don't mind having her read or journal about her experience or even write when she gets back about what she learned during her trip, but to me, this is NOT the time to have her take tests or do reports. Math, science and social studies can wait a week.

So now I digress.... does Disney do anything educational that can be applied to school? How do you work out missing school with your children's teachers?

It seems our son in High School is being told not to do anything during the trip. And our first grader just has to take pictures of all the fun things she does and bring them back. To me it seems ridiculous that they would make Lily (who is the MAW kid!) do schoolwork.

Sorry for the rant... I'm just wanting some sort of justificiation in blowing off her teacher and making Lily enjoy her experience rather then do schoolwork the whole week we're gone.

We Homeschool as well, but have not had any experience with virtual schools. Are you using k12? I know they're usually state run and really are sticklers about attendance, but this is family time! Learning happens all the time. Visit the historical buildings in Nassau, measure and mix cookies in the kids club. Learn about the force of motion thru liquids on the Aquaduck. Most of all have fun!

Looking forward to meeting your family this Sunday!

So exciting to hear how everyone's trips are coming together. My crew will be wearing just simple Halloween t's to dinner. So you won't be alone.

Thanks Stephanie for the great idea on the journals!!!

Can't smell it just yet, but in 48 hours we should be in AL well on our way!

Laundry going, I am going to finish up FE at some point today with labels. May have to put Lion King in DVD player and lock my bedroom door so that the girls won't see!

Dale started packing last night, so hopefully we'll be pretty well done tonight by bedtime. I hate last-minute stuff!!!

Good morning everyone!

The trip is almost here! And just in time... A cold front is coming through that will drop our temps all day. Still haven't started packing *yikes* but I do have the suitcases near my bedroom... I've been telling myself that there is plenty of time still - but reality is starting to sink in that I must get this rear in gear. :rotfl:

Tonight there will be a game to watch and packing to do. Was really hoping this series didn't go to seven, now hoping it does. I guess I'll sleep on the way down.

For Halloween we are wearing costumes to dinner. :)

Have a magical day everyone!
Go Cardinals!

Sure will be wearing mine. Don't worry what others might think, they will just be jealous they didn't bring costumes.:thumbsup2

Hi All,

As you all know from my DD's (ajaysmom825) posts, yesterday I fell off my front porch (one step concrete) and broke my ankle in two spots. The doctor said that usually this kind of injury has 3 breaks so..I'm blessed--it coulda been worse. At least it didn't occur today to tomorrow where I would have had to make some major decisions about the trip.

The doctor heard about our road adventure and helped us out immensely by forfeiting his lunch hour to do the surgery (yesterday--again another blessing) for which I'm very thankful for.

Another blessing is that the packing for the cruise is about 90% done, including FE gifts. Whew!!

I'll be released from the hospital today sometime in the next couple hours. The physical therapist has to show me how to maneuver steps. Our house has 7 steps up and 6 steps down, plus the one step porch, one step at the door.

Life is good. Hubby took the rest of this week off to help me once we get home. Our travel plans are still intact. Cruise is almost here.

I've been given so many options for getting around the ship-- it's awesome. They are setting me up with a walker and wheelchair for one. Plus a new thing called a roll-around knee walker much like a one wheeled scooter you see kids use.

And finally, Angela (DD) has told you all about our room change. Handicap rooms were gone, but we were able to upgrade to a bigger room so it should be better for me to get around.

One more thing about the costumes----We have costumes for both Halloween and Pirate night that we're planning on wearing to dinner.

Hugs to all. See You all REAL Soon. Can't wait.

Glad to hear things are looking up!

One tip if you're using the wheelchair - anytime there's a steep ramp, have someone take you down the ramp backwards instead of forward facing. You'll feel much safer :thumbsup2 Gravity isn't always friendly.

Great tip!! And good to know. Will definitely use especially for this trip. Thanks

Wow, you are resiliant. I know if this was happening to me I'd be thinking very hard about postponing the trip. I love your attitude!!! Looking forward to meeting you on the ship. And no racing with the knee walker:)

Would hate to cancel this close to cruise time!! I, too, am looking forward to meeting you and everyone on this site. It's gonna be awesome!!!

We have a Suburban where I can sit in the back seat and have the middle (door side) seat lowered so I can prop my foot. Unfortunately, it's my driving foot so I won't be able to drive for awhile. Bummer!! I guess I need to toted around now ...hehe Hubby's gonna love that. Yeah, right.

That knee walker is faaaaast!! I have to be careful not to go to wild. LOL

SO GLAD things are looking up! My mother and MIL both broke their foot last November. It's certainly not easy. You have such a great attitude! I'm wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Well, we're off! I have 3 minutes left at work and then we're headed for the border (the Canadian / US border, that is).

Can't wait to see you all on board!

(I'll be the one with the lime green nail polish).

Happy travels everyone! :cool1:

Yay! So thankful everything is falling into place, and that you're doing good. I guess we will see you speeding past us on board! Safe travels!

Here is a pic of DS trying on his costume to make sure it will still fit. (note this is before he hurt his nose.)
Anyone else have pics of their kids trying on their costumes for the cruise?

Seriously?! How cute is he?!! Carson age 2.5 is also Woody but a lesser version because he doesn't love being in costumes.

Woody is so cute. My DD was Jessie last year, but is going with a princess this year. Here are my DDs: they did some early trick-or-treating at Grandma and Grandpa's this last weekend.

And Sophie is Belle.

Here is my number one sign today that I have told EVERYONE I am going to Disney: I was checking out at Target today and the cashier looked at me and said, "Aren't you the one leaving on the cruise this week?" :rotfl: OK, it's official, total strangers have heard me talk about it so much they can remember that I'm going. We are leaving the day after tomorrow. I can't believe it.

I got DS the woody costume shirt from the disney storenfor him to have dinner in so he is more comfortable. We will change him in to this costume for the other activities. :goodvibes
