Nope, if questions drove people away there would be no one here, as I have asked a ton of them. :rotfl:

I didn't hear about Florida getting hit. All in the area please be safe :grouphug:

My kids are back soon Kevin Aug 31st and Kaitlyn Sept 6th

I hear ya there , most days I have more disney stuff on my desk then work... :confused3

Kim

Wow...poor Kate had to start school on August 10th..I have already spoken to her teacher about the cruise..she was like "HAVE FUN!"...not like her kindergarden teacher who said "YOUR GOING TO MISS A WHOLE WEEK!!!"
Lady, it's kindergarden!

:rotfl: ...I don't tell the teachers until it is too late for them to hand out homework. Just kidding, I have gotten mixed comments from teachers over the years.

I get the kids to do a good portion of their homework the night before we fly out. Then we always fly home on the Sat so they have the Sunday to finish any homework. I don't make them do it on vacation because I don't like spending my vacation fighting with them to do it. :confused3

Kim

I told her that Kate is going to keep a journal for the cruise...she was excited to read it when she came home.
Next year is FCAT...don't think I will get to Disney until May!

Did I mention that I have the ship's horn on my Outlook Express here at work..whenever I have an incoming mail, I hear the horn...this affliction is getting BAD!

We always give the teachers about a months notice and then remind them again about a week beforehand..we try to get as much work as possible before we go. I will not have my kids doing homework on a vacation! It's their vacation too, so its either before or after to finish the work! Hopefully this years teachers will be accomodating!

"Hunkerdown" huh Betsy....got your rain gear at the ready?! Hope its not too bad!

Hugs,

RonnieJo :flower:

Go to your control panel - click on "SOUNDS"..for incoming mail, browse for wherever you have the horn saved on your computer (mine was saved to the desktop)
Very nice sound!

Ronnie..thankfully, we just got accordian shutters on the upstairs windows, so no ladder balance act for us! Just open the window and "VOILA"!

Hey- About the early breakfast!

The time comes into play only with the Saturday that we depart the ship. There are two seatings for breakfast on that day and those with early seating for dinner have early breakfast at 6:15AM! Luckily you can go to topsiders that morning and leave at your own pace I think. Confirm anyone? I don;t know if it has anything to do with character breakfast time. Sue Ellen do you know about this one?

Definitely early seating has early breakfast on departure morning (I think it was 6:15 a.m.) and late dining had the later breakfast (something like 8:00 a.m.) Later is much more my speed. You have your departure breakfast in the dining room where you had your dinner the night before.

For character breakfasts I think the times of those are based on your dinner seating too (but they were not nearly as early as departure morning.)

Hi All,

Looking for advice on what to pack. Costumes for kids and adults??, formal night, semi formal, Hawaiian, pirate ...what am I missing...

Thanks all..

I'm guessing this has already been answered, but I don't have time to look through all 132 pages of this thread...

Does DCL do anything special for Halloween? My husband and I were planning to dress up, but are there certain suggestions or activities?

I am not sure BUT i am sure if you call the Cruise line they may be able to get you( and US LOL) a better idea ..I am SURE they will do a costume party..ITS DISNEY for petes sake! We are SO excited to be going on a HALLOWEEN CRUISE!!!

Here's some great info that Tarzanman(Tim) posted about this:

Formal Night: If you want to get into that Tux thing. Go for it. HOWEVER: It is more than acceptable to wear a suit instead.

Semi-Formal Night: Just a tie with a shirt works but if you want to spruce it up, go for a jacket too. No big deal.

Casual Nights: Wear a golf shirt or a dress shirt w/o the tie.

Ironing: Forget ironing. Pack all your clothes as best you can to avoid wrinkles. Send out your dress clothes for pressing (not cleaning) on the first night. It won't cost you that much and then the hassle is out of the way.

Space in your cabin: If you are not staying in a suite, which most of us are not. Make a little more space for yourselves. Especially bathroom counter/shelf space. Bring 2 over the door shoe holders like you find at Target. Use one for shoes and misc. stuff. Use the other for bathroom stuff, sun screen, brushes, curling irons, etc. It will just keep stuff organized and out of the way.

Bring a power strip. At least a short one. You might need it ladies when you are trying to get ready and you are out of accessible outlets.

Bonine is better than Dramamine for motion sickness. They sell it at Walgreens, Wal-Mart and a couple other drug stores. Cheapest at Wal Mart.

Do not get a massage or facial when you are going to go the beach or the pool afterwards. Not a good idea. It is a sunburn waiting to happen. The Castaway Cay cabana massage rocks but you can't really go snorkeling after you are done. So think about this one.

Spa: The prices can be cheaper if you go to the spa on a port day. People tend to get off the ship so the prices can be less and usually more appointments are open.

and here's the line up for the cruise that RonnieJo posted:

4th Friday - casual wear

Stampinshauna,
Just wondering - do you post on Micechat? Your name is very familiar to me. Anyway, I haven't been on the Halloween cruise before, but I've been told there is a Costume party (adults as well as families included) on Halloween night. Plus, there's the pirate night on Tuesday night so plenty of opportunities for dressing up. For your hubby, there's penguin night on Sunday. ;)

You can look up Post #13 on page 1 for information on Dis meets and other activities planned. There's also a thread geared for kids that is very active if you guys have children that want to get to know more about each other before spending a week cruising.

we are getting low...Also, i saw on the list for DRESS..ITs a Pirtae OR HAWAIIAN theme night..NOT BOTH? how do we know which( i already bought hubby a hawaiian tee not knowing this?)

Well we are about to go to Blizzard Beach.... hopefully Katrina will stay away. We figure tomorrow should be the main rain day so we will head to Animal Kingdom. We had a heavy storm come through yesterday afternoon but missed most of it since we were on the bus going back to CS. Once we went back to MK for the extra magic hours it had cooled off nicely. Lines sure were long even past 11. We have been having a great time eating free. So far our highest bill was at Yachtsman's Steakhouse for $163 :earseek: . It's nice to get a bill with $0 :wizard: as the balance  . I can't remember what California Grill was but I think it was around that too. You can order an appetizer from the Sushi part of the menu. Most of them were around $20. We have eaten so much I feel like we are already on the cruise. The Dining plan would be worth it even if you had to pay for it, but it sure is a lot of food.

Thanks Trishy and Rachel.

Great info. It will definetly help. Any other advice on the best excursions? Is Palo equal to its rep? Also...I heard something about "Atlantis"? Is this the submarine excursion or is there something else to it? Any advice on must dos and or must avoids?
The kids are getting so excited (Parents too). We talk about it avery day even though it is two months away.

Thanks again..

Good Morning everyone,

Thanks for the info, now I just have to figure out how to save the horn.... ;)

Welcome to the newbies. :wave2:

This is going to be a awesome cruise... :cheer2:

Thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers for my friend Nancy and our families. It helps to know people care. :grouphug:

Hope you all have a great day!!!

Kim

Hey RonnieJo,

My daughter told me about your post. We both share the screenname. All the computers in our house have had damage, so that's why I haven't posted in awhile. One had a bad power supply, another got a virus, and a third got flooded with hurricanes Dennis and Cindy, all at the same time. Anyway. I hope everyone's doing well.

:Pinkbounc YEAH, PAM IS BACK :Pinkbounc

Glad to see that you're still with us!!!!!!!!!!!! :grouphug:
